You wish you could throw open one of the massive dark green drapes that obscure the window, if only to let in a bit of light. You feel removed here, as if the outside world has shunned you and you are now sequestered in a place of solemn contemplation.
From somewhere you hear the ticking of a grandfather clock. You feel its reverberations as much as hear it; the steady
“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.â€
“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.â€
“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.â€
of the pendulum drawing at you like the clutch of an invisible talon. You feel briefly ill, a slight wave of nausea overcomes you and you shut your eyes as if to ward off the unseen demon.

"Well..."
{apparently I talk to myself when befuddled}
"There's absolutely no way that they could have come in this place and me not be able to hear a thing of them - especially Bedlam. I heard a woman's voice and I saw them go through the door. They couldn't have left this place by any normal means in this amount of time. Something unnatural is at work here, and it's to do with that door knocker. Either I go for help - and who could provide help? The guard would be useless here. Or I go try the door myself. Or I just wait. I hate to just wait."

Your arcane word slips easily from your lips as you pass your hand over your eyes. You looks slowly and carefully about you, surveying everything.
No magical aura is found whatsoever.

I return to the front door and attempt to use the door knocker (using my staff to reach, if need be).

I still maintain it as long as possible, and to save off boredom I pace.
How much longer til the event.

{To the party.}
You hear a knock at the front door, outside of the sitting room. You wait for just a moment, unsure, but do not hear Enid return to answer the door. Could it be T'Ning?

T'Ning, you wait outside the door. You hear nothing within.
Could this house be some sort of vortex, drawing your new friends into its ravenous maw?
Worse, could it be waiting for you?

I knock again and call out
"Hey, you guys in there? Liv? Faerun? ..."
I hesitate a sec and then add
"... Bedlam?"

Liv, you see Enid coming down the hall toward you.
"That would be your tardy friend, I take it? Please excuse me."
She moves to open the heavy door.

T'Ning, you hear a woman's voice from within.
"Please, enter as you like."
The door now slowly opens before you. Within you see the grand foyer described to the party earlier.
You think you might be mad...or ensnared in a sorcerer's wicked scheme, as you were in this same room not five minutes earlier. Then, it was certainly not what you see now.
But which is the reality? And where are your friends?
As you cautiously enter, you meet Enid. She is behind the door.
She looks at you with irritation for your tardiness barely concealed beneath her practiced air of poise.
"Good morning, sir. You have been expected."
"Please, if you will, your friends have been waiting.."
You also see Liv, very glad to see you are not lost to her.
With that Enid ushers you in to the dimly lit sitting room. You breathe a sign of relief finding your other friends are inside.
Enid sighs at you and shakes her head as she closes the sliding doors, not quite as politely as before.
