I read the FF comics and I admit it used to be following a pattern.  Ben would either be working out or walking around NY, Reed would be in his lab with Sue nagging him to spend time with Franklin or the family.  Johnny is either trying to get a date or working on a car.  Either that or Ben and Johnny would be fighting.

I wonder what they have planned now that Franklin has his powers back and Val is a mini genius.  I enjoyed the run of comics with the Black Panther and Storm in the group, even if The Black Panther comic wasn't in sync with the FF comic and you found out the end of a story arc half way through the story arc.

I agree that the roster will always be the original 4 maybe 6 if you count the children.  I thought the team up of Spiderman, Hulk, Ghost Rider and Wolverine was funny when you think about.  Spiderman was the replacement Reed due to his smarts.  Hulk was the muscle, instead of Ben.  Ghost rider was the replacement Human Torch.  So Wolverine replaced Sue.  I wonder what Logan would say if you told him he was the replacement for the woman in the group.  I think it would start with a few %$@" signs then SNIKT followed by AAAAIIIIEEEEE!!!!!!!  Grin

If I had the powers of Multiple Man, I would send one of the dupes to work, one to revise, one to clean my room and one to walk the dog.  While I would stay at home reading comics.

Also it's not necessarily about events, but about writers. A book will often get as much buzz from going back to its roots as from an all-new all-different take.

Which may go back to my original question.

Writers like Bendis and Fraction get titles like Avengers, Captain America, or Uncanny X-Men while Jonathan Hickman gets the Fantastic Four. It seems if Marvel cared a little more about its so-called flagship family it would bring in its best writer to get some of that buzz.

Maybe they can retcon Mephisto into the picture tricking Johnny & Sue into believing that they were making love to Reed, or whoever Johnny was banging then, but they really had an afternoon liaison with each other resulting in the birth of Franklin Storm not Richards.
The reason could be that Mephisto would realize the power that would occur in the spawn of the incestuous event.  Then plotting to control the child at a later date for multiversal domination.
If Joe Q does this storyline, remember folks, you heard it here first.

Why are you not writing for Marvel? *grins*

A few story lines like that and "The Mephisto Wars" could be the next big Marvel Event (as if we'd want that).

Please don't say the Mephisto Wars too loudly, it's a secret war.

Will it spill out into all the Marvel books? Can't be much of a secret if it spills out into all the Marvel books.

It's like the Seige, Secret Wars, Countdown to Final 52 Crisis of the Kingdom Come , and the Smurfs all rolled into one.  BUT BIGGER!! and very very hush hush  and on the  down low and the qt.
It will be so Univeerse shattering that all comic book universes will never be the same for the 15 minutes it is going on ever again until the next big event where everything will be retconned.
It is sooooooooooooo secret, I don't even know all he details.
