oh. Yeah, okay, I guess I've forgotten you ever watched Season 1.

My girlfriend and I started watching Season 1 this weekend. Great stuff there.

Season 1 is incredibly faithful to the books. Season 2 diverges a lot more. As best I can tell it's still mostly following the same plot, but showing different characters' points of view that you don't see in the books at all, changing a few details, and fleshing out some interactions that were only hinted at in the books. Some of the things in the "changing a few details" are annoying but for the most part it's interesting to see what was going on in other places in between what we got in the books.

I wonder why it was changed, as Season 1 was such a faithful adaptation?

Not 100% sure, but part of it may be that lots and lots more characters and locations are introduced in book 2, along with the fact that almost every living Stark is now in a different location from each other. You can pull that off in a novel but in a TV series twenty-ish different diverging plotlines and locations is too much for the budget and for the viewer being able to keep up. So they merged some secondary characters with each other and gave us some discussion scenes where characters talk about the progress of events in the war so that we can be aware of things that are happening that we don't actually get to see firsthand.

Either that or GRRM just wanted more excuses to show gratuitous boobs.

Navarre, I have improved critical. If I rolled all that correctly, then I think I may have just rolled a crit. Could you check that for me?

Question...does 3.5 have action points like 4e? Just trying to think of what I want T'Ning to do on his turn.

No, no action point.

You have free actions, move actions, standard actions, and full-round actions.

Free actions are things like talking. You can do that as much and as often as you want, unless I limit it to maintain realism.

Move actions are moving in combat more than five feet, opening a door, drawing a weapon, etc.

Standard actions are things like attacking or casting most spells.

Full-round actions take longer than standard actions and are usually things like making multiple attacks (such as flurry of blows).

In a round you can take one standard + one move action or two move actions or one full-round action (plus a 5-foot step if you wish).

That's what I was afraid of. Is it possible for me to Ki magic to go invisible, then abundant step?  I know AS is a standard, but is the Ki?

Ki is a Swift action, which is like a free action except you can only take it on your turn, and only once per turn.

So yes, you can go invisible in combination with pretty much any other action. My usual pattern with T'Ning is invisible, then 5ft, then Flurry of Blows.

I would think since we are in 3 dimensional combat that a PC could move through an opponents space with no penalty except having to move an extra square or two?

First time I've done the whole air combat deally. I'm also assuming the DM rules for aerial combat are in place as far as keeping a speed and such, but I never really asked.

And to answer your question Nav, my weekend was busy and not long enough.  Had to help a friend move, then house cleaning to prepare for my mom to visit.  I did manage to get some time to work on my D&D story, and map out a bit of the realm I want to use.  The drawer program makes it easy.  Smiley

Glad to hear things are working out so well with your new gf and your irl game.  Always good things!
