I somehow once again avoided a great combat encounter this chapter. I need more convicted and/or insane foes for you guys instead of always finding rational common ground.
Not a single gripe from me regarding this game whatsoever, Nav. You know I wouldn't hang out here if it were not so.
But I was thinking this very same thing over the weekend. Its not ALL about throwing hammers and kicking ass, but a little bit more of that would be nice.
Also, I have read about just about every single scene in the Avengers; I made it through FCBD at an actual comic book shop and the movie was THE topic of choice, even with the Young Justice Cosplayers (I never thought I would find Robin attractive but this chick pulled it off Saturday), so please, do not stop the Avengers banter on my account.

I agree. It is one of my challenges with my DMing style.
The first challenge is not somehow having a 20 level campaign occur over the course of 2 months of game time. The second challenge is my propensity for hating senseless violence.
I allow my NPCs to be swayed to reason far too easily. I even tried to knowingly counteract that by throwing in angry elves looking for their kidnapped princess and the Angel of Frickin' Death!
still botched it
So now I'm low on asshole villains. I'll try to work something out.

This is all fine and good, and believe me, I've been voting. But even with this getting the needed 10,000 votes, it could get 10 million votes and still would not qualify for Lego production, because it does not fit within the standard Lego age range.
I don't like it anymore than you do, but I doubt we will ever see this set come out from Lego. Solution: teach Firefly in school.

Still waiting for the official 'congratulations' comment from Lego but the fact that it reached 10,000 means that they're actually going to officially review it and seriously consider turning it into a real Lego product. The biggest difficulties are (a) getting a license from Fox or whoever owns the rights these days, and (b) the fact that Inara's occupation might be deemed inappropriate for Lego's target audience. A Shaun of the Dead set got turned down due to being inappropriate for kids, so that's a real worry, but Inara is a minor character compared to the fact that SotD's entire premise is inappropriate. So we'll see...

Oh yes, I definitely am keeping my hopes up, but the SotD debacle moves a looming shadow over this entire deal.

Solution: teach Firefly in school.
I think Joss should be standard reading in schools. At least in a creative writing class.
Speaking of Joss and things that should/shouldn't be taught in schools, (I think I can say this without spoiling anything on The Avengers), Steve Rogers made a reference to God in the movie that made if fairly clear (from what we know of Steve) that he believes in God.
I hope that shuts up the people who keep claiming Joss is always trying to promote his "atheist agenda".

Ha! Yeah, right! Nothing shuts the wackos up about the atheist agenda.
And...wtf is wrong with promoting an atheist agenda? If the inclusion of a Norse demi-god in The Avengers isn't going to turn off the bible humpers I doubt a barely known director's attitude would do so. But that's why they call them wackos: you just never know.

I actually really liked that moment in Avengers: quite apart from the fact that it's one of the dozens of "most quotable" lines, it's a nice bit of character detail - when you think about it, of COURSE Cap would be a Christian. But he can be a Christian without being a dick about it - even if he's sometimes a dick about other things.
Also: "I understood that reference!"

But that's why they're wackos. Regardless of one's faith, why does everyone not of that faith assume they are only trying to promote it?
I am certainly not offended by having my superhero role model be Christian. I don't care where his morality comes from, only that he has it.
I watched that movie "Soul Surfer" and the main character got through her shark attack through her Christian faith. That was an accurate portrayal of the actual person upon whom the movie is based. Nothing wrong there and still a very inspiring film.
Wackos are whack.

Given the time and place and culture he came from, I think it would be almost unrealistic for him NOT to be Christian. (Because that's what I'm looking for in a superhero movie: realism...)
Back on the subject of the Lego Serenity: Serenity is PG-13 and Shaun of the Dead is R. They've made Lego sets of many other PG-13 movies - most recently the Avengers itself.

Cap is an American. No matter what time he came from, even today, it is most likely he would be a Christian.
I'm not sure why Joss would choose to have him make a statement like that, besides pandering to the Right wing
I'm more likely to associate Cap's morality with the mere fact that he was so set on going and fighting the evil that was the Nazi's, instead of clinging to a faith that shows its morality more often that not in not fighting true evil, but fighting things itself has deemed as evil. I find religion means less actual morality in most cases; but the inclusion in the movie makes me wonder and is very intriguing.
On Lego Serenity: I know the facts, I just doubt that Lego cares. I don't think ratings matter as much as the actually references that the "moral majority" hang their idea of morality on. But look, I've tied the two discussions together

Because it's in-character, makes perfect sense in context, and is also hilarious. Which is basically the hallmark of any Whedonism in any of his shows, now that I think about it.
