Hey Navarre, I forgot to roll up my other 3 hits today. *bangs head on table* That's what I get for playing at work.

Can I roll my other 3 hits?

Personally, I'd skip the dragons because anyone could throw those in. I'd homebrew the creatures but assist myself in their creation by using existing monsters for reference.

So I'd start by sitting back, closing my eyes, and imagining these amazing creatures interacting with my PCs. What do I see? How are they shaped? What is their mode of movement? How do they smell? Know them.

Then look through the monster manual to pick and choose qualities from different monsters that help me devise stats that work within the game mechanics and are of the proper stat level for the PCs.

Then take those traits and devote mental energy to them, figuring out the "why" of the race. How did this all come to be and what does it all mean, especially as it involves the PCs.

Boom. New race. New sub-plot. Far more intriguing and less stale than dragons. And what the PCs do, or don't, with it is entirely up to them; as it should always be.

I like this. I agree with both of you that it shouldn't be forced, and should be up to the PC's.  I think it's a cool idea, but that doesn't mean they will.  My brain has so many idea's and with this being my first DM attempt it's hard to keep them focused.  I've got plans for the future, but still have to flesh out the present.  I want my PC's to be as badass as they come, but what's to say they will take that path.  Hmm..seems I have more planning to do to create a unique species.

Chrysalis: Well you charged, right? So that's a full-round action. You only got one hit, so you had it right.

No problem. It's only the first round of combat, even though it's taking a month to finish it. I'm sure you'll get to hit her again, using all your attacks this time.  Tongue

Yeah, he really did. He is a Knight, just like he always wanted. A Paladin with the girl of his dreams, a pegasus, and a +5 longsword.

The fates were kind to him.

I'm glad for Jackson, even though he isn't real. lol

Let it be known that I've been online for 2 hours now... and I've not nodded off once. (I did that after dinner. HA!)

I was hoping it was herding the angels toward the archers and heavier missiles...

but somehow that seems too simple and obvious for Tren Smiley

Lets just say that when a battle takes 3 weeks before Tren gets to go the plans get crazier and crazier  Tongue

Indeed!

It occurred to me only as recently as earlier today that the whole two Protectors deally may be able to work to the group's advantage if Bedlor and Coby can move and throw with some sort of strategic synchronicity Smiley
