Looking for an artist for a 4-issue miniseries
«

I wrote a script for a 4-issue miniseries back in 2002. I submitted it to Dark Horse, although it was rejected.
The script needs some reworking but I feel it is fairly solid overall. However, I do not have the artistic skill to illustrate it.
Is there anyone here who has the artistic skill and desire to collaborate on this miniseries?
How this project is completed and where/how it is presented are things we can work out. First, I am looking for someone with the interest.
Any interest?

Thanks, Aubreii. If you can get me her deviantart link I can look at her work and see if it looks like the feel would work for the tone of the book. Then we can go from there.
Great to get such a quick response.

Did she do the pencils, inks, or colors for such things as the Alpha Gods posted? There seems to be some diversity in art styles on her deviantart page but, certainly, she may just be able to handle diverse styles.
The art style for the Interactives page may be the sort of thing that would work well for my script, and some of the darker elements in it would be well-depicted by the Alpha Gods.
So, pencils, inks, and or colors?

I know she works mainly digitally but I think she does both.

You'll find her email there.

When I e-mail her, how shall I refer to you so she knows I'm not a random person?
And, while we're trying to promote the forum here, is she a member? From her "About" it looks like she'd fit right in.

She Knows me as either Shaun or Derfel. We met in world of Warcraft and I'm still her GL. She's not a member as far as I know but thats a good point!

Yeah, definitely ask her about joining. I got my girlfriend and a friend to both join.
Neither unfortunately visits much but my friend doesn't read any comics at all. Yel looks like she'd fit right in.
From looking at her portfolio, I fear she may be too busy and/or expensive for me.
It often seems that a writer writes because he/she loves to do so but the artist only works for money...which the writer may not have. And, even if the writer does have it, it is quite an investment to make if the work is not published.
The artist profits but the writer does not, except for the joy of seeing their work on the page. I wonder if my experience in this matter is skewed or atypical or if this is indeed the norm?

I will drop Yel an e-mail at some point soon and see how her availability and interest is, along with her pay rate. Thanks for the direction, Aubreii.

How'd this go, Nav.
Also, if you don't mind paying someone Work in Comics.com has some listings. Also Comicspace.com, thats the comic book social network has some folks who really want to work, although it hard sifting through the others to find them.
Then there's Facebook. (Thats a Maude joke BTW...I've used it more than once...anyways). Just by Friending or Faning certain companies or individuals I've found lots of people who are trying to get in the biz. The bigger the network the better so it takes some time. Just some things.

Y'know, I was all ready to move forward with the comic book thing...and then some people started in on me about DMing an online D&D game...
Isn't that crazy?

Aw, you just say that because you love me. But then, don't all women? ... oh. wait. no they don't. my bad.
Anyway, it is still a matter of finding a dedicated artist. I don't want to work hard to produce something that is visually unappealing and I don't have the talent to do it myself, even with online comic strip tools.
Maybe I should see if J. Scott Campbell, Ian Churchill, or Mike Deodato wants to do it. I bet they have a hard time finding work.
