Invincible Iron Man (Best new Iron Man, accessible to everyone and damn good to boot)
Bone (the whole series- It really is long over due)
The Sword (If they wanna wait for the series to wrap up soon, that's cool too)
The Walking Dead (Review it in time for the TV show next year!)

I would like to the the gang take on Grant Morrison again with what I believe to be one of his greatest works.
The Invisibles.
This book went a little outside the box while containing multiple levels of enjoyment.

The Crow. It was my first TPB. Lots of emotion in it.

I have very few trade paperbacks. The Crow is one of them. So at least I could compare my thoughts to the review.
The Crow is a powerful piece of work. James O'Barr wrote his pain on those pages.
If you've ever watched the interview with him on The Crow dvd, it is watching gried and the struggle to get through that cycle to acceptance. The Crow brings us along on that journey.

I have to second or third or whatever the motion for Crow.
While the movie brought its own pain and sadness with the death of Brandon Lee, the book was so much more raw and far more real.
As far as other TPBs, I don't believe there's been a review of James Robinson's Starman. That's a winner that you guys have actually referenced a few times.
Otherwise, here's a list of some faves: Johnny the Homicidal Maniac Daredevil: The Man Without Fear Batman: Year One Daredevil: Born Again Sandman (my personal favorite is at the end, with Kindly Ones and/or The Wake) Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits
Some seminal ones there. It's heavily skewed to late 80's/early 90's, because that was when I collected most heavily. Still, there were some great stories there.

I am not a Batman reader. What would y'all suggest as the best single Batman trade paperback to read?
I have heard Year One and The Long Halloween are both good.

Thanks for the suggestions.
But I was only planning on buying one TPB. I'm just not that much of a Batman fan.
If you could suggest only one TPB that you felt was the most likely to convert me to a rabid Batman fan?

I would be careful with Arkham Asylum as a "representative book" for one character, since it is very atypical in its art and the way it tells its story (not that it is bad). Year One and Long Halloween might be more straightforward there.

Yeah, I've never read Batman. I mean, I know about the character and all but I have never read multiple issues of any of his series to get through an entire story arc and then evaluate the character's appeal to me.
So I'd want to read the trade paperback that gives me the best insight into the character and is the most representative of what I could expect from him if I were reading on a regular basis.
So...Long Halloween, huh? ... The Scarecrow, right?
