Hi folks,
I started reading comics around 1977/78 and collected through 1998 when I stepped away from the hobby, I've jumped back into in 2010.
I'm a long time gamer as well. I've been a part of regular groups playing RPG's, ccg's and miniature wargames since '86.
I've been listening for about a year now and figured it was about time to join the community.

Thanks for listening! Hope you like it here.

Hello all!
I started listening to Critical Hit nearly two years ago now, I believe. When I got current on that (too quickly, need more Dungeons and Dragons!), I moved on to Major Spoilers, and now I'm within 30 episodes of current on that. I'm actually conflicted about this. It's been so long since I didn't have a backlog of MSP waiting for me to listen to on my long commutes!
After so many hours of entertainment, I finally thought it was only right that I signed up here and added a $10/month recurring donation. And someday soon, I can't wait to see what the MS crew has up their sleeves when they reveal the fundraising goat in all his goatly glory.

Welcome! Thanks for listening! And thanks for contributing!

okay, so my daughters been having trouble keeping track of her spells and rituals, so im putting together a little spellbook with some mystical doodles and fun fonts in it. its looking kinda cool, but now im realizing the boy's gonna be PISSED if he doesnt get something too.
since he cant read yet, I was thinking of just pictues of his character performing the various attacks, but what would be a cool way to display them? maybe a cybernetic looking cube he can hold? a papercraft sword or something? im really puzzled what would be cool yet helpful for him

When we talk about dinosaurs we're talking about millions and millions of different creatures at various stages of evolution. Even if you picked a particular era, say the Triassic, we're talking about a ton of biodiversity. So We'd probably kill some, breed some and be entirely unable to exterminate some no matter how hard we try. Just like with modern animals.

If you read the section on Keywords in the PHB, page 55, you will see that a specific example given of keywords modifying powers is the Dwarf save against poison effects.
If you look at it pretty strictly it actually reads the other way. A dwarf would get the save even if it was, say, a poison, fire, radiant attack. Later on, when they get to damage and resistances they do it the other way around. Either way I always rule it permissively (if it's got the keyword, you're good for the bonus) because the racial bonuses for saving throws are A) small and B) rarely used in games that involve a variety of foes.

I'm running a campaign and today we ran into an interesting question. The party was fighting a couple Kruthik Adults (MM pg. 170), the Kruthik put an effect of Ongoing 5 Poison and Slow (save ends both). When it came up to our dwarf saving against this effect, we were unsure whether his +5 to saving throws against poison (Dwarven Racial: Cast Iron Stomach) would be used against this effect.
The effect contains poison, so it would be fair to apply the bonus - however, the effect also Slows which wouldn't trigger the bonus.
The question boils down to this: Does the dwarven racial apply to any effect that contains poison, or just single effect poison?
Thanks for any thoughts on this, spent some time looking around rules updates and rulebooks and didn't find anything.
We always use the full bonus. If it fits, then use it. Same thing with some genasi and ongoing damage and halfling with fear effects.

Hi all
Found the podcasts at the beginning of the year and they have been filling my boring commutes for the last 2 months.
Thought I should poke my head in here for when I finally catch up to the end of the run.
I've read comics on and off for 27 years since I collected all the marvel transformer comics as a small boy. I got back into comics around 2000 with the ultimate comics and I've really started collecting in the last 2 years.
Currently my project is reading through the complete marvel reading order (search for cmro) but I keep getting distracted by pretty things like dejah thoris and witch blade...
Thanks! Hope you have a good time here!

Games and Toys / Role Playing Games / Re: Is death cheap in 4E ?

Yes, death is often little more than an inconvenience in D&D. But the main reason for that, I think is so that characters won't die accidentally.
It's Dungeons and Dragons, and the franchise has a long and proud history of not trusting their players with information or the reasons why they do things. Therefore rather than saying "Ok, DMs, Players can be upset if their characters die in a random confrontation with sewer rats, so make sure that they don't." they say "Hey there's a cleric anywhere you might need one." So they create situations to take care of the problem but in the process create other problems. That's actually a really common thing in RPGs and has only recently begun to change.

I'm not sure if the crawler registers a view or not. I often report a post to the moderator, so that would be one view for me.
Ditto. I figure I'm not the only person reporting it, but I still do it anyway just to make sure it has been noted. There had been something in place for a bit some time ago (waaaay back in like 2011, which is like a century ago in tech years) that made bots a rarity, but I'm not sure if they relaxed that or if the bots found a way around it. they always find a way around it. Stephen, Matthew and I do what we can to clear up the spam but sometimes it takes us a while to get to it.
