76  Comics! / Others / The Boys' M.M.'s Secret on: November 12, 2009, 09:47:54 AM
Alright, I would like to start off by saying, I am probably wrong on this, but would like to say this anyway.
I was listening to MSP 150 last night, and listening to Matthew’s review of The Boys.  He said that issue 34 ended with the question that was put forth to M.M. asking weather or not he had to continue to receive milk from his mother to survive.
Matthew said about how issue 35 did not answer the question and this was a little upsetting in that the issue goes in a different direction.
I don’t claim to know more about The Boys than Matthew but I thought that the issue did not need to give a direct answer to the question.  Now maybe for our main protagonist it may be an issue, but for at least me as a reader it did not.
I only say this because I believe that earlier in the series M.M. and Butcher had to stop by M.M.’s mom’s house for some reason, but we were unsure why.  I do not have my collection with me at the moment, but I do believe that it was indeed his mother’s house (I think it was only a one page “side trip”).  Now at the time I had no idea exactly why they even put this in the issue, but after reading issue 34 and seeing why he may have had to visit his mother and having the author show this on panel I understand.
Again I am probably wrong on this, but I think that looking back the comic shows that indeed M.M. still requires his….. well his mother’s milk.

Also sorry that I do not have an issue to reference back to, and could just be my memory not working, but that’s just what I think.

The problem I had with those eps is that you had to be watching the episode to truly appreciate the podcast. Maybe you could do reviews of episodes you've watched or just discuss an episode or series after giving a brief summary of said episode.

This may be just because I have probably seen every episode at least three times but I enjoyed the broadcast without watching the episode while listening to the podcast.

*raises hand for more*

and finally if the mods feel that this necromancer is not necessary I totally understand a deletion of this post.

My playing of DnD is rather limited to about 4 campaigns, each generally about 3 sessions long.

But my favorite was my half ork barbarian.  I loved it when something would let out a loud roar or screach or some such, and I would usually respond with something to the effect of "I yell at it louder, grab my axe and run in swinging"

Well I haven't gone out of my way to read any, I have enjoyed Akira (absolutely amazing in terms of both art and story), GTO (at least what I read of it), and Azumanga Daioh (ALL HAIL OSAKA QUEEN OF YAWNING!).

Well, I may not have had the same ammount of sheer glee upon seeing my comic books.  But I had a long lull between reading comics (about 9 years) and figured my mom threw out my old comic books (cliche I know).  But after helping my parents get out some christmas decorations (they keep all their seasonal things in these huge purple tubs) I wondered what was in the bottom tub.  Opening up the lid there were all my friends from yester-year.  About 90% still bagged and boarded.  The ones that were not were ones I never really cared for when I was younger.  Oh well, I had to go out and get some bags and such for further storage.

The real reason for the lurking is basicly because I did not have any real comic book information from the past probably 15 years (most of the comics I read were from one of my LCS's "way back bin").  I read most of the justice league from issues 100 to 200, and a few assorted others.

Hey major spoilers, just wanted to stop by and post a little something about myself and my thanks to yall.

I just wanted to start off by saying that thanks to your wonderful site I have not necessarily been introduced to comic books, but thanks to you, I have reinvigorated my love of the medium.  I started reading comic books when I was around 12 years old and stopped about a year later when I started going to junior high and thought I was “too cool” for them (don’t get me wrong I was a total goober back then and should of known better).  I did not start reading comics again until I was 21 years old (I’m 22 now) and I would like to thank not only Major Spoilers podcast, but also the community as a whole (I’ve been lurking these forums on and off for the past year as well).

The podcast was the final push towards reading comic books again.  I do have a friend who works at our local library basically as “the comic book consultant” (He gets to say what they have in the library and what they don’t) who has been nagging me for about three years to read this or that.  Just with every web comic series, and book series, I like to start at the beginning and work my way forward.  So I went back and started listing to the original podcasts and worked my way up to current.  Thanks to that I got to hear the evolution of the show, from the beginning cast which included Skrull Brian, to the first guest appearance to the now regular Matthew.  Of course the show doesn’t work without either Steven or Rodrigo, who have been staples all along.

Thanks to your show I’ve read Preacher the whole way through in a weekend along with a box of cookies as once suggested on the show.  I’ve also been reading The Boys after  hearing that podcast (I actually had a bit of a laugh after  I thought “Man this seems to have the same kind of feel as preacher,” only to have it later click in my head that oh, someone did say it was going to out preacher preacher.  I keep thinking about getting back into the big two, but I don’t know, every review I hear from you all makes me feel like they just are not for me, at least right now.

Anyway thanks again for everyone’s great work.  Peace out for now.
