Agreed on all counts. Even the opening credits are part of the problem - it was emblematic of something or other that when you watch what's unanimously hailed as one of the show's best episodes, there's more of Eliza in the credits than in the entire rest of the episode combined. At it's best, ANY Whedon show is an ensemble show, and Dollhouse is no different; trying to sell it as an Eliza showcase is completely missing the point.

At least they're going to air out the remaining episodes in December and January, though.

Well this sucks!

I'll blame the Friday time slot to a point, but with the DVR so widespread now, I cant help but agree with Rob.

And as a fanboy of the guy, I won't blame Whedon. I'll blame the jerkwads at Fox. Ahhh, that makes me feel a little better.

A show like Dollhouse is very difficult to promote, but I agree it should have been advertised as an ensemble show. Dushku, hot as she is, is frequently the weak link in a pretty strong cast.  The last episode before baseball and sweeps put the show on hiatus barely featured her and was arguably the best episode of the series to date.

Couple the mishandling of the show's promotion with a premise that is essentially without a 'hero' and you have a hard sell. I am led to believe the show is still in production, so maybe a few tweaks here and there in later episodes can at least give the series a satisfying conclusion.  Kudos to Whedon for attempting to put something so morally grey and conceptually challenging on the air in the first place.  I look forward to the episodes that remain.

The show is still in production. They are working on episode #11, as noted on io9:
http://io9.com/5402497/the-apocalypse-comes-early-for-joss-whedons-dollhouse

That io9 post also contains a quote from Whedon. To his credit, he expressed his sadness but doesn't come off too bitter. In other words, he probably saw it coming too.

The io9 article also includes what they say are the air dates for the remaining episodes:

Dec. 4 - 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 5 & 6)
Dec. 11 - 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 7 & 8 )
Dec. 18 - 8:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episodes 9 & 10)

Jan. 8 - 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 11)
Jan. 15 - 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 12)
Jan. 22 - 9:00PM-10:00PM ET/PT (Episode 13 / Series Finale)

There's some interesting stuff going on online lately too.

See for example: http://www.ditchthetech.com/, http://www.rossumcorporation.com/, and most interestingly of all, a twitter feed from an employee of a small corporation that Rossum hired to do PR - http://www.twitter.com/AlexFromPR. Alex is interacting with people on twitter answering questions about work she does for Rossum and apparently a little freaked out by how everyone seems to think that her client is evil and why she suddenly got so many followers. She also has a blog where she talks a bit about her life and her work.

There's also http://www.wipethefuture.com/ which has some further clues.

Oh, and apparently if you call the telephone number on Rossum's website you get a callback. DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE if you value your mind. If you've watched Epitaph One you know what I'm talking about.

Didn't anyone watch Dollhouse tonight? It was fantastic.

Best episodes aired so far. If it had always been this good we wouldn't be having the cancellation discussions.

I'm not sure that this episode beat out "Belonging" (the last episode before the hiatus) for quality drama, but this one was certainly up there among the show's best episodes, and perhaps the best as far as the overall balance of action to humor to drama. Enver Gjokaj once again showed he's the single best actor on the show, and the scenes between Topher and Bennett were beautiful. And I can't believe they got me AGAIN with the same friggin twist - anyone else see it coming?

(Does this board have a spoiler tag btw?)

I dunno. I think maybe spoilers are sort of an assumed feature, based on the forum title. But who knows?

Enver has been brilliant in every scene he has been in. They definitely need to give him some more lead time on-air.

The Topher/Topher exchanges was one of the best things I have seen on any show this season.

Summer's character, Bennett, was a joy to watch. They have not only expanded the complexity of the DH universe by giving us the Washington DC Dollhouse but they have given us a character in Bennett that promises worlds of layers.

Too bad we'll never get to strip her down.

... umm...You know what I mean.   Kiss

I think it'd be pretty hard to strip her down any further than her first scene in Firefly.

But she was cold and afraid and lonely. Such things are not right.

Bennett can take care of herself.

Actually, I'd be afraid to be intimate with her. She's a li'l bit KRAZEE!!

I suspect that if the option was available at all, you would have no choice in the matter. Or memory of it afterwards, perhaps.

Ha! Great line!

Also great to see Alpha return.

I have been saying the show needed to work more on its ensemble instead of isolating plots down to Echo. They did that this time and I think it added much more energy to the episode.
