Order of the Stick is a great comic, and levels up to a +5 fantastic comic if you've played D&D. I will argue though that Rich Burlew draws stick figures deliberately, and not because he can't draw. He infuses more personality and poise into his characters than most people drawing 'realistic' comics now-a-days.

This is one of the web comics I try to never miss reading. It is really fun and that fun just goes up if you've ever played D&D. What makes me wonder is now that D&D is going 4.0, will it affect the comic?

While yes, this is indeed yet another thread that I have bumped that no one has posted in for some time, I figured that since it is still on the first page it would be alright. I love, and I mean love OOTS. I think that it is probably one of the most well balanced group of people in any web comic / comic I have ever read. Each character has enough back story to feel for them (with the exception of maybe Belkar) to keep you interested even when you are simply reading exposition. I found it weird because I normally don’t feel that invested in a character once the curtain is drawn back and I see the driving force of a character (yes I am well aware that I am weird), but with OOTS I believe it is different. The bad guys are indeed bad, but even then I feel for them, or at least some of them. Red Cloak is probably my favorite character in the series, because of his initial feelings towards the hobs in the beginning then his sudden epiphany. The fact that he also hates those of the Sapphire Guard and that he has good reason may make people think “Wow, maybe goblins and other baddies are not so bad, just pissed that they keep getting their families killed by “good guys.”” I really want to buy the two books that are not released via the web comic medium. I believe that they are named something to the extent of “On the origin of PCs” and the one about the lich (I have no idea what its name is). So come Christmas I can hope for those two, but if not, oh well.

by the way, the new volume is up for pre-order. christmas is coming, so if anyone wants to give me a gift, this is it (i'm a little broke at the moment, i won't order it until january maybe) hey, my review is gone, what the heck man. That Ninja: the 2 prequel books are numbered -1 and 0. they are great, get them. and the rest if you don't have them, there's tons of bonus stuff not on the website. mr. burlew did great work and released very good quality books (i'm talking about the materials, not the comic itself)

Oh really? I didn't realize that the books had more then just what was on the website. I may have to check those out then. Also, I got the "Start of darkness" the other day and yea, that was really awesome.
Man...... either I need to get some more cash quick, or I'm gonna have to ask for the books for Christmas.......... or something.

i just saw on the distributor website that they have scratched and dented for about a third to half the price. i think it's worth it http://www.ookoodook.com/store/comics_order-of-the-stick.shtmlnow, if i can resolve my credit card issue and order the new book, i'll be happy.

Love this webcomic as well. My only complaint (and it is a small one) is that it doesn't come out on a regular schedule, or nearly often enough.

Well, he did say in the FAQ that he would rather have a speratic posting schedule then not have a funny strip, tho I agree that not having a comic for two weeks then about 4 comics in the course of two days.
