HOWDY! So, I’ve noticed that there’s only one music thread on these here Major Spoilin’ forums. I’m here to change all that. Now there will be at least two. The point of this thread is to share music. Here’s how it works: Someone posts a video of a song and the next person comments on the video that the person above them posted, as well as putting up a video of their own. So a normal post would be like... ^That song sucks. I hate you and the music you like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3wJgXjyhXwFever Ray - "When I Grow Up" Ya dig? You can say anything you want about the video that the person before you posted, but you’ve gotta say something. I’d discourage single word responses, but I guess I can’t stop you if you end up doing that. SO! Let’s get started shall we? Someone comment on the song I put up and then post your own video!

Fever Ray: That is very different. I like seeing a live video, as it gives a better sense of the artist's true skill. The singer, Karin Andersson, has a unique sound to her. Sort of like Plumb mixed with a Stevie Nicks vibe. I would listen to more of this, just to see the overall range of the artist. And now, old school hair metal, baby! Back when dudes and dudettes had big hair and thunderous guitar. German thrash rock from Dusseldorf: Doro Pesch and Warlock: "All We Are"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmnVNxEmBn4Gawd, were videos cheesy back then!

"All we are" sounds kinda like a twsted sister anthem. I dig it. . I don't think I heard of many female singers from the 80's (assuming that's the era as evidenced by the cars exploding and the over-the-top dance moves. So now it's time for me! Here's Radiohead performing "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" from their last album, "In Rainbows" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naCAdshYVTA&feature=channel_pageBefore those of you that haven't heard of Radiohead say "His voice sounds weird," Well, listen to it again. And again. It won't take long to love it.

That must be one of the most upbeat Radiohead songs. Although I would be the right age for it, Radiohead never influenced me that much in my formative years. That being said, I can still enjoy their music. They have quite abstract lyrics, which I like, and aren't that over-the-top produced. Only I cannot stand his voice for more than a few songs in a row. Here's the Secret Machines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt-7TJ_NAWE

My ex-wife loves Radiohead. I've tried to listen to it but couldn't really enjoy it...Maybe it's post-traumatic stress disorder from my marriage. lol I know you're a fan though, Julian, and it's always cool to have something you love. I like The Secret Machines music a lot. I don't think I like the lead singer's voice quite as much as I want to. It might be just a little high for me to listen to him for a long time. But I definitely dig the music. And, yes, Doro and Warlock are from the 80's. Nobody dresses like that anymore! lol Doro eventually went off on her own with a new band. She was big in her native Germany but not so known over here. Lita Ford kinda took the "lady rocker" spot in the USA. In the late 80's and early 90's, Warlock and WASP were my bands. They were great to listen to to get pumped up for a workout or, in my case, my karate class. How Zen, eh? heh heh Alright, let's skip up a decade or so: Stabbing Westward: "Shame" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xkUhaeY4qY

^I dunno. It was alright, but the chorus wasn't really sticking with me. It's not "bad" by any means, but it's just stuff I've heard too many times before. Kinda cool video though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fjUcbgv2hICommon Rider - "Conscious Burning"

^ Not bad, but not exactly my cup of tea. I've never heard of Common Rider, but it reminds me of some of the tamer Rancid tracks. I went through a ska phase around the turn of the century and have some Bosstones, and few ska compilation discs that I listen to once in a while, but it wasn't a scene that kept me enthralled. Now here is one of my favorite tracks by Finntroll - Midnattens Widunder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RvAEfxqbLk

the guitar at the beginning reminds me of playing a level of megaman. Not bad, but a little too, growlie for me. How about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA1D8Kds9EI

Very nice. From the cover art I expected it to be something very low-fi and intentionally underproduced like Moldy Peaches, but it was actually very clear sound. I liked the handclaps (always very upbeat ) and it lulled me a bit to sleep (in a positive way). So, before I lay me down to sleep... Elvis Perkins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjN8kyK14wk

^Wow, that was...really good actually. Thanks for that. Since we're apparently in an acoustic-ish guitar mood, here's this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFmfncE-jD0Andrew Bird - "Anonanimal" A rough version of one of his best songs.

Andrew Bird track was good stuff. I'm somewhat partial to people including violins and other non-mainstream stringed instrument into their songs. I should include one here at some point... But first, here's Arctic Monkeys playing one of my favorite songs form their first album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5ySuWBIglI

It is a good cover. They are very theatrical and innervated. Something a little pop and softer: Heather Nova: "London Rain"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnp7NNlv220

That's my favourite Heather Nova song. A pure pop jewel. I got two albums of her, but I have to admit I cannot listen to her all the time. Sometimes she is just too soft and spiritual for me. It's time for some space rock! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzJfInW9Kx4
