Hi there folk, Sam the Movie Guy here. I have a proposition for you, the loyal fans of the Major Spoilers website. I was sitting at home last night, enjoying a tasty Arby's Beef 'n Cheddar, watching the film Teenagers from Outer Space (a true classic, let me tell you), and pondering what movies I'll review for upcoming weeks. Then it hit me - why not get the masses in on the reviewing fun? So I'm here to get suggestions for movies to review. That way, youalls get to read about movies you want, and I don't mistakenly resort to picking something silly or ridiculously outside Major Spoilers realm of topics. But that would never happen, right? Before I open the floor, I should mention that the final decision for reviews will rest with Stephen and myself, and that would be based on the general availability of the movie for me, and the relevance the film has to Major Spoilers main topics, mainly comics book and scifi stuff. In other words, don't suggest Failure to Launch and we'll be OK. Alright, enough of me blabbing on and on, let's hear some suggestions!

Okay, I started typing, but mylist got WAY long, so I will par it down to the top 5 I would like to see reviewed, all comic related...
5. Unbreakable 4. Mystery Men 3. Creepshow 2. The Rocketeer 1. The Adventures of Captain Marvel
That last one, and number 1 on my list, is the original serial from the 40's. I have the DVD of it and know I have watched the whole thing at least 6 or 7 times. Creepshow was just released on Blu-Ray, got to pick it up this week. Awesome Berni Wrightson artwork in between stories.
Also, as an honorary mention, Chasing Amy, one of my favorites.

I will second Unbreakable, as it is my favorite movie. But make it good. I want a philosophical examination about our desperate need to find purpose in our existence. Don't try to snow me and tell me it's about Jules and Butch from Pulp Fiction. lol

I would like to suggest Rock & Rule, the bizarre 1983 animated sci-fi/rock music epic with voice work by Debbie Harry, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. I haven't seen it in years, but I think it fits nicely under the Major Spoilers umbrella.

Would it be better to review a movie we have mostly all seen so we can discuss it or to review a movie that is lesser known to give it exposure?
I think I'd prefer the former. Otherwise the review doesn't prompt much interaction.

Ah, but the latter will maybe influence someone, somewhere to dig up a "forgotten gem"...
Eh, either way is fine by me.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Looks like Unbreakable is definitely going to be covered. It's one of my favorites as well. Never heard of Rock & Rule, sounds great. Will have to check it out. What about The Phantom or The Shadow? Any interest in those?
And would anyone like to see reviews of old 1950's scifi, like Robot Monster or Plan 9 from Outer Space?
This is great! Please keep the suggestions coming!

I would love a review of either The Phantom or The Shadow. I have seen both but not for a long time. I liked both but not enough to own them yet.
Maybe a good review will renew my interest and I can give Billy Zane or Alec Baldwin's career a boost.
... or just watch Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I second Chasing Amy and third Unbreakable.
Also I'd like to throw in Asterix the Gaul (or any Asterix movie) and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Oh, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Well, Unbreakable certainly seems to top the list at the moment. There are a lot of other good suggestions too. Unbreakable is my favorite movie (as I've said) but I can't even tell you how many people I talk to that didn't like it. They complain that it was "too slow" or "nothing happened" or "what does that have to do with comic books?" or even the preposterous "why didn't Bruce Willis fight the bad guy?". As Will Ferrell said in Zoolander, "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" This forum has some insightful minds. It's a welcome change.

Oooh, I like Aterix! Definitely on the "To-Do" list.

Well, I don't know this movie. So it could be your chance to give me that "forgotten gem" you spoke of. ... I prefer the Infinity Gems though.
