I'm not reading X-Force but, from what I've seen in posts here, I take it that Rahne is a member, right?
She belongs in New Mutants. Any chance she might shift titles?
No, she belongs back in X-Factor, their's still a plot thread of hers lying around that I'd love to see picked up again. Thank you, sir, may I have another??? I want Rahne back where she belongs too. I wasn't sure I caught which title you are referring to. Do you believe Rahne most belongs in New Mutants, X-Factor, or X-Force?

Why can't she be on both X-force and New Mutants. I say this because look at Wolverine, who is on quite a few teams. That and X-force is meant to be a secret strike force as everyone on it is on another X team.

I don't even read X-Force so it's okay with me as long as I don't have to buy both titles to knows what's going on with her. Maybe if your code name starts with "W" you can multi-task to be on more than one team. This is great news for the Whizzer and Wundarr the Aquarian.

Oh, mercy! I continue to love this title more than Christmas!
The characters are so much fun to read. The encounter between Sam and Dani was just spot-on.
They were able to take issues between them that has been brewing since Issue 1 of the original series and, though none of it was discussed, bring it all into play as Sam and Dani tried to work things out between them. It was very much like watching two people who have been friends for years but have, as with many people, all of these things they've never addressed come boiling to the surface when the big argument finally breaks out.
The revelation about Marci's fate was emotional. But even more emotional was the revelation with Xi'an.
There are some people who can fit in that anti-hero role that some seem to like for their heroes. Illyana is one of them. Xi'an, though she has her share of darkness, has started down a much darker road than ever before.
There are some things that truly change a person down to the core. Almost inevitably, such things are not slow processes but sudden, traumatic events.
This was such an event for Xi'an. What it takes for a good person to come to terms with that of which they are capable is often even more traumatic than the original event. I foresee this being something Xi'an will have to deal with for a long time.
Bobby is the character that needs the most work. Right now he is a caricature; comic relief. He is Gar Logan or Rocket Raccoon when they are written poorly.
Bobby's surface personality is obvious. I get it. But is a defense.
Like most defenses, it is strong and so it makes the character seem one-dimensional when I know better. So I hope the writer provides some situations soon that chip away at that wall and let us see what sort of insecurity makes a guy act like he's a perpetual 14 year old in heat.
I gotta admit though, Bobby's line of dialogue about not having sex in 10 years and how he played it off onto Sam had me laughing out loud. Again, the kind of great exchange you could only write realistically among the best of friends.
I am a bit uncertain on the change in artistic style.
On one hand I don't like it. It had this rather flat affect that makes it seem crude. It has a bit of an unattended look, like it was colored in by a high school sophomore sitting through a boring afternoon class.
I especially did not like Illyana's look. Her rendition seemed the worst of all. ... and you can only imagine how I feel about that.
And why is she dressing so goth-punk-metal? I know she's the "bad girl" of the team but that really doesn't fit her character at all. And even if it did, she was dressed like crap.
She looked like a kid in some backwoods high school that was trying to be ever-so unique and rebellious yet only ends up looking foolish. Get it right, illustrator!
I do like the bright colors and the semi-realistic feel of the art. But that semi-realism is almost the problem.
I look at a panel and see something that begins to stir a feeling like I should be looking at a photograph. But then the lack of nuance makes that photograph all the less impressive.
I haven't ultimately decided if i am okay with the art or not. I'll give it a while.
But the story and characters are so good for me that the comic could probably be drawn by a 6 year old and I'd still enjoy it.
Sorry to see Warlock back. Never liked the character. Never. Not once. Did I mention I don't like the character?
I am interested in the Necrosha story though. It feels like I am already reading this in DC but I know Marvel is sharp enough to take it in an interesting direction.
I look forward to seeing that direction. I look forward to adjusting to the art style. I look forward to Issue #6.

Not having read X-Factor I have no valid opinion. Sometimes characters move on. It happens.
So if Rahne has moved on from the New Mutants, that's just how it's going to be I guess. It's not like Angel and Iceman are heading back to the Champions any time soon.

The last New Mutants issue I am aware of being released was NM #6. But that seems like it's been a long time ago.
Have I missed something?

On the 23rd December New Mutants #8 was released. SO issue #7 and #8 have both been released and gone. Basically Necrosha saw the return of Doug who was infected by a TO virus. Who was given the task of getting revenge on Magma and comes close to doing it, after cracking her head open. The New Mutants fight Doug to a standstill until Warlock returns and gets his head ripped off after trying to cure Doug of his TO virus. I think it was the hellions (I think) who come in to try and reboot Doug. So Warlock did some damage. The New Mutants split up some to help Doug and some to get Magma to the medical bay. This leads to a funny game of state the obvious. Magik goes out looking for Warlock and cures him by stabbing him in the eye with the soulsword. (Does Warlock have a soul ) Oh well it worked. In turn Warlock stabs Doug with the soulsword to cure Doug. In New Mutants #9 we find out the secrets behind Magik.

I did, thanks for asking!
I didn't get to invest in the reading experience as much as I wanted. I'm not sure I understood the deal with homegirl 'Yana. I'm going to try and read it again tonight.
Or, better yet, you can paraphrase and summarize what happened.

So, New Mutants #9, let me get this straight...
The Illyana who is with the team isn't the original Illyana?
Did the original Illyana die as a young girl from the Legacy Virus and the current Illyana is an unnatural creation of Belasco who is like Illyana in every way except she doesn't have a soul?
And, if the above is correct, this Illyana is searching for the Bloodstones to retrieve her soul so she can truly be Illyana in every way, pure and whole? (well, maybe not "pure")
When Illyana said that Witchfire (dumb name, btw) had brought travelers from another dimension to get the Bloodstones first, was Illyana referring to the team of hell-soldiers led by General Ulysses? Are they the Elder Gods or just servants? (I am guessing servants?)
Personally, I think these hell-soldiers (for want of a name) look kind of lame. They look like a crew that should be fighting Cap'n Jack Sparrow.

I meant to bring my book today so that I could refer to it as I wrote but of course I didn't. So, I am doing this from memory and later today will try to get my book and we can figure this out.
The Illyana that we are seeing is a creation with all the memories and feelings of the real Illyana but without a soul. And that she is searching for the bloodstones. But, I thought she had already gotten the blood stones in the X-infernus title prior to the relaunch of the New Mutants.
So, are these hell-soldiers trying to come take the Bloodstones from Illyana? And if Illyana doesn't have the bloodstones then why are they in the real world and not in hellish dimension?
I think you are right on the servants looking kind of dumb. I really wanted to like this issue, but it just didn't make much sense to me.

I didn't get to read X-Infernus (which makes me very sad) but NM #9 certainly gave me the impression that Illyana did not have the Bloodstones.
Yet she dropped back from a future time line where she had gone to get the Bloodstones. That suggests that they are on Earth (at least in some point in the future). So, not having read X-Infernus, I am going on the assumption that the Bloodstones are somewhere on Earth.
She could have come back from the future to save her friends, even if the Bloodstones aren't here currently, because she placed them first. But, knowing Illyana, it seems more likely they are here if she's hanging around.
That would suggest that perhaps the hell-soldiers are here to get the Bloodstones before she does. If they serve the Elder Gods then the Bloodstones must be important to them in bringing about this week's apocalyse.
