Alterna Comics has announced that Jesus Hates Zombies: Those Slack-Jaw Blues has sold out from the company once again. This is the fourth time the book has sold out at the company level.
Creator and writer Stephen Lindsay had this to say in regards of the title’s latest success, “Having JHZ:TSJB sell out at the Alterna level is pretty amazing. For an anthology put together by a first time creator with a bunch of unknown artists to sell this well is really a testament to the level of talent out there just waiting to be given a shot. Lucky for us, Alterna gave us that shot!”.
Alterna said in a prepared statement that it has no plans to send the book back to press right now, instead it plans to focus on other Jesus/Lincoln series.

Boom! Studios has announced the second issue of 28 Days Later sold out at the distributor level, immediately after release. This has prompted the company to send the issue back to press in order to get it in readers’ hand by mid-October.

Word around Hollywood this morning is the news that Night of the Living Dead, is getting a remake. Interestingly, the zombie horror film will not involve George Romero, but it will be a 3D CGI origin story. CGI zombies? Sign me up.
Titled “Night of the Living Dead: Origins,” the re-imagining is being directed by newcomer Zebediah de Soto and produced by Simon West and Simon West Productions president Jib Polhemus.
As much as I like the zombie genre (my Kung-Fu- Zombie-Western movie is still in the works), I can’t help but wonder what an all CGI zombie flick will bring to the table. Sure, the ability to create a realistic looking human is great, and has done wonders for companies like Disney and Dreamworks, but pairing CGI with horror might make it hard to find an audience in the long run.

After enduring all the dreadful events that occurred to her after the release of the Rage virus, we now find Selena somewhat safely ensconced in a Norwegian refugee camp. One might think that the absolute last thing she would consider would be a return trip to the British mainland but a conversation with a with a crusading journalist convinces her to do exactly that. The other members of the expeditionary force seem to regard her as more of a hindrance than an important part of the team but she soon shows her truth worth when they all come brutally face to face with some of the Infected humans.

Boom! Studios has announced its new 28 Days Later series will hit stands on August 26th, and the company sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek.
Wildstorm has announced the latest in the zombie genre – Victorian Undead. And before you ask, yes, Sherlock Holmes is involved.
The setting? London, the year 1854. Gas lamps throw long shadows across closed storefronts; a horse-drawn carriage prattles down the cobblestone street, paying no mind to the feral children sleeping in the alley. The only sounds audible at this late-night hour are a bit of music rising from the pub on the corner and the low moan of a zombie shuffling over the sidewalk.
The six-issue mini-series will be written by Ian Edginton with art by Davide Fabbri.
Take the jump for a peak at the full cover and gruesome variant.
AMC has been doing some big things in the cable realm over the last couple of years. The Mad Men series took off like wildfire, and now it looks like AMC is looking to adapt Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead for the small screen as well.
Frank Darabont is on board to write, direct and exec produce the project, with Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion also executive producing.
I’m glad a cable network picked up the rights to this property instead of a movie studio, which really couldn’t do justice to the comic book in a single movie. While Darabont is a fine writer, it would be even better if Kirkman were on board to help write the screenplay.
Chainsaws and machetes are so 1985 when it comes to killing Zombies. Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg offer up another take on killing the undead in this promo piece for the upcoming zombie comedy Zombieland.

This week, IDW Publishing sends Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Doctor Who #1, Fallen Angel: Reborn #1, G.I. Joe Movie Adaptation #, and The Last Resort #1.
Dark Hero Studios and Pandemonium are teaming to bring the zombie comic book Deadworld, to movie theaters sometime in the future (unless of course you are reading this after the movie is already out… HELLO FUTURE PEOPLE!).
“Deadworld” picks up four months after that event, where the Dead overtake the Earth, with humans few and far between. Protag is King Zombie, a Harley-riding corpse who holds a grudge against the survivors who made him an outcast.
The film is expected to go into production in 2010.

Arriving in stores this week is Buck Rogers #1, Sherlock Holmes #2 (reviewed here), Army of Darkness #21, Super Zombies #4, and Terminator: Revolution #5. Dynamite Entertainment sent us a sneak peek, that you can read after the jump.

IDW Publishing has its own take on zombie, but sending them to an island resort and letting all Hell break loose. The Last Resort arrives from the company in July and is written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray with cover art by Darwyn Cooke, and illustrated by Giancarlo Caracuzzo.
Jimmy Palmiotti commented, “The Last Resort is just what I want after months of super hero comics. I want my comics: R-rated; I want my sexy broads topless and I want our characters to be regular Joes that will just about do any atrocious thing to stay live. The great thing about working with IDW is that, unlike most companies, they let us write whatever we want, and we went nuts with this book.”
Being familiar with the work of Palmiotti and Gray, I’m interested in seeing what they can do with a story that doesn’t feature a large chested female superhero beating the crap out of everything and everyone. Check out the sneak peek at the company website to see what is in store for readers this July.
Boom! Studios has announced the Kim Krizan’s Zombie Tales series will get the collected treatment in July with the release of Zombie Tales 2061.
