What is really amazing about this trailer, isn’t that there are five girls fighting zombies, but rather this mock trailer is done just to sell a book.

We’ve all seen Skottie Young whip up some fantastic art for the Wizard of Oz series from Marvel, but today, he’s bringing the dead back to life with this neat zombie art.

Take the Big Apple, add every horrifying beast, science-fiction freak and fantasy faerie, shake thoroughly and you’ve got “Ugly Americans,” a new animated comedy series premiering on COMEDY CENTRAL on March 17 at 10:30 p.m.

The series follows Mark Lilly (voiced by Matt Oberg), a social worker at the “Department of Integration,” as he helps new citizens, both human and “other,” adapt to hectic life in New York City. There are easier tasks than weaning vampires off blood, socializing land-whales and housebreaking werewolves, but Mark is up to the challenge. Between his stressful job, a zombie roommate and a demon girlfriend, Mark’s lucky if he can sneak in a few minutes of sleep. But who can sleep when there’s a drop-dead gorgeous mermaid sitting at the bar?

Moonstone Books sent Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for books arriving in June 2010.  There’s plenty of new Phantom stories, and a Zombies vs. Cheerleaders that might be worth checking out, but I doubt the girls in their cheer gear are having lots of fun as zombies hunt them down.

Good news for fans of Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead series, AMC has given the green light to begin production on the pilot episode of the television series.

Frank Darabont penned the adaptation and is on board to direct. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will exec produce with Darabont.

Back in August the news that AMC had picked up the television rights to the series sent a surge of positive support Kirkman’s way, and I can only imagine this news has zombie fans even more excited about making sure their cable provider has the cable channel in its lineup.

No word on an air date yet, but I’m guessing we’ll see something pop up in the fall lineup.

Zombies. What is it about the undead that intrigues us? One must admit that it is a fascinating concept; the dead walking the earth once more looking to feast upon the living. Loved ones and friends would be nothing more than a hallow shell of who they use to be and would only be interested in savoring the taste of your brains on their rotting tongues. Is it fear that attracts us to Zombie related films, comics and novels? What would you do if a dead relative or a deceased lover rose again and sought to kill you? What emotions would you experience other than fear? Confusion? Perhaps hope? Would you fight back for the sake of survival or cower before them as your emotions over power you?

In 1920s New York City, life is hard — and then the zombies appear. Actress Brea Grant (Heroes) and her brother, Zane, weave a historical horror in We Will Bury You, debuting in February 2010. The four-issue series follows two unlikely heroines from the margins of society as they fight to survive and battle the spreading zombie infection.

“Zane and I have been working together on music or other creative endeavors for a long time,” said Brea Grant. “We have a similar sense of the world, sense of humor and work ethic, so it just really works out.”

An odd surprise hit earlier this year was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which retells the Jane Austen story with the undead thrown in for good measure.  Lionsgate films will finance and distribute the film, but it’s Natalie Portman who is producing and starring.

Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.

As long as the movie isn’t as dog slow as the last Pride and Prejudice I was forced to watch a few years ago, I think it might actually work.

Zombies appear to be all the rage these days! Take a look at such titles as Blackest Night and Marvel Zombies. Novels such as “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” have hit the New York Times best seller list and the Woody Harrelson movie “Zombieland” was an audience favorite. It seems we are in the midst of a Zombie invasion and writer Raven Gregory has entered the game. How does one give readers a story centering on the undead without repeating what’s all ready been done? By giving the Zombie’s a purpose. Don’t expect an army of mindless corpses rising from the dead to feast on the living (or more specifically, their brains). In “The Waking” murder victims are seeking revenge on those who took their lives.

Alterna Comics has announced that Jesus Hates Zombies: Those Slack-Jaw Blues has sold out from the company once again.  This is the fourth time the book has sold out at the company level.

Creator and writer Stephen Lindsay had this to say in regards of the title’s latest success, “Having JHZ:TSJB sell out at the Alterna level is pretty amazing. For an anthology put together by a first time creator with a bunch of unknown artists to sell this well is really a testament to the level of talent out there just waiting to be given a shot. Lucky for us, Alterna gave us that shot!”.

Alterna said in a prepared statement that it has no plans to send the book back to press right now, instead it plans to focus on other Jesus/Lincoln series.
