In an exclusive interview with Major Spoilers, Zenescope’s Mr. President (Joe Brusha) gives Victoria all the details on the upcoming highly anticipated series, “Neverland”. What can we expect from this twisted version of Peter Pan? Read on to find out!
Zenescope Entertainment has quietly been growing its title list for the last couple of years, and in anticipation of a new year, the company has released its list of new titles and mini-series arriving in 2010. The company also points out that those who were following the Salem’s Daughter and 1001 Arabian Nights series shouldn’t think the series have been canceled. A company spokesperson says the next two issues in the series have been held back and are going to be resolicited in the months ahead.

Although Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are some of the most famous characters in Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass” (they never actually appeared in the original “Alice in Wonderland” and debuted in the books sequel), they have yet to play an essential role in Zenescope’s adaptation. They made a brief appearance way back in issue #2 of Return to Wonderland when Calie stumbled upon their bloody bodies (along with the Walrus) at the Fish Dinner’s restaurant. They were apparently murdered by the Carpenter but we never discovered the reasons why or the identity of the two men until now.
Ralph Tedesco from Zenescope Entertainment sent word that comic artist Andrew Mangum is battling cancer. To help, Zenescope has set up an auction to raise money for medical costs.
The auction includes some very rare Zenescope items like GRIMM FAIRY TALES #1 first printing and GRIMM FAIRY TALES #16 limited edition exclusive with cover art by Andrew himself. Many other artists are donating sketches and original artwork, etc. so I just wanted to make people aware of the situation.
AUCTION INFORMATION:
Comic Book artist Andrew Mangum has recently been diagnosed with cancer and his family is holding a benefit auction for him on September 5th. Andrew has worked for DC, Zenescope, Image and others.
The auction includes some incredible artwork from a multitude of artists as well as rare and hard to find comic book issues that Andrew has worked on. Every little bit does help. For more information check out the auction link here: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=85567

In Grimm Fairy Tales #29 (King Midas) we were introduced to Mercy Dante, a character who became quite controversial among fans of the series. In the issue Mercy fulfilled her plans for revenge against David Frank, a retired hit man who murdered her parents (who were weapon dealers) when she was a child. A grownup Mercy kidnaps David’s daughter, Trisha, from school one day, and takes her to a warehouse where her father is bound to a chair. Mercy proceeds to shoot Trisha to death in front of her father.
You can easily see where the controversy comes in.

Grimm Fairy Tales #41 features the return of Mercy Dante, and considering how bad things got in her first appearance, this issue is sure to cause a few people to get riled up. Zenescope Entertainment sent Major Spoilers a sneak peak of the issue that arrives on August 26, 2009.

Calie travels through the looking glass one last time on a desperate mission to rescue her daughter.
If you don’t know anything about Zenescope’s best selling Wonderland series, I would advise that you go to your local comic store and pick up the Return to Wonderland hardback along with back issues of Beyond Wonderland (the Tales from Wonderland trade paperback is also a great read which contains individual stories on characters such as the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts). You don’t necessarily have to read the first two chapters to enjoy Escape but it will add to your reading pleasure. If you’re new to the series, this is pretty much all you need to know: Alice’s daughter Calie has traveled back to Wonderland to save her baby girl Violet, who was kidnapped by the Mad Hatter (Calie’s brother, Johnny).

There are a lot of issues that are selling out lately, meaning a) publishers are running fewer then normal print runs, or b) there is an increase in the number of readers. The latest sell out issue comes from Zenescope Entertainment, who dropped off a press release to let us know Salem’s Daughter #0 sold out through Diamond.
Salem’s Daughter is described by Zenescope as Buffy meets X-Files set in a stylistic version of 19th century America. The story follows lead character Anna Williams, a beautiful descendant of a lineage of witches, who is just beginning to realize her own mysterious powers as she attempts to vanquish a variety of supernatural beings that aren’t of this world.
The company didn’t say if it would be going back to press, but it did say it has copies on hand if stores wish to place an order. The first issue arrives June #1, 2009.

Zenescope Entertainment has announced the third and final mini-series of its Wonderland series, “Escape from Wonderland” will arrive in July. The seven-issue mini-series follows the grown up Alice and her daughter Calie as they attempt to put a stop to evil from escaping Wonderland and infecting their world.
“We have such a supportive and passionate fan base who have given the series a chance and have responded extremely well to it so we’re more than excited about this final installment and bringing the story full circle. But love it or hate it, one thing is true, our version of Wonderland has definitely struck a nerve these past couple of years,” said Zenescope Executive VP and series co-creator Ralph Tedesco.
The other two series were definitely interesting takes on the Lewis Carroll classic, and those into horror/slasher/gothic stories should get a kick out of this final arc.
