World of Warcraft back to press again

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

wow3.jpgDC Comics has announced the third issue of World of Warcraft has sold out and will be going back to press.

Based on the MMORPG from Blizzard Entertainment, the comic has had quite the following, even if the hard core fans believe there is a lot of artistic license going on.  Personally, I like the art, and the story is okay - I like the fact that the writers are trying to cram as much as the WoW world into the story.

“What truly matters in life is to live different kinds of experiences,” says artist Ludo Lullabi.  “Whether they are real or virtual doesn’t really matter. As a game player, to be able to enter the world of Azeroth is a dream come true for me. As an artist, I hope I have been able to capture the essence of this wonderful universe and managed to be faithful to it, as well as to all the players who keep on writing and rewriting its history.”

I agree…

The second printing of issue 3 is scheduled to be in stores February 27.

DC Comics Lands World of Warcraft

Monday, July 23rd, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

In addition to the loads of Superman, Batman, and other superhero comics, DC Comics has announced plans to publish a new comic book series based on Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft.

The monthly series will be written by Walter Simonson, with art by Ludo Lullabi.

The first storyline of the new ongoing series begins when a human is found unconscious on the shores of Kalimdor, with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there. Enslaved by an orc shaman, the man must fight for survival against members of both the Alliance and the Horde. He strikes uneasy relationships with other races in his quest to find the secrets of his past.

Just a few months ago, DC Direct announced it would sell World of Warcraft action figures. World of Warcraft #1 arrives in November.

This is really big news for the 2.4 million fans of the video-game (myself included) who really get into the mythos of the game and want to explore the world through different stories. My only hope is it is better than the god-awful manga series from last year.

Take the jump for three covers and concept art by Lullabi.

Wizard Entertainment has posted images of the first series of DC Unlimited’s World of Warcraft figures coming this Summer. Series 2 will feature a Human Warrior and a Troll Priest. Take the jump for the full sized Blood Elf Rouge. I’m all about the Alliance, but after seeing these images, I may have to change my battle cry to “For the Horde!”.
