Movie is The First Ever Animated Superman Project to Be Rated PG-13![]()
Oh Man! I Can Not Wait For This DVD! Most of us certainly remember the hype surrounding the Death of Superman, and even if the story was a little shaky in places, you have to admit it was a fun ride. There are a couple of things I’m looking forward to seeing in this DVD. The first is the level of cartoon violence taking place in the flick causing the PG-13 rating. I’m also interested in seeing how Adam Baldwin will do as the voice of Superman, Anne Heche as Lois Lane, and James Masters as Lex Luthor. I’m sad that Timothy Daly and Dana Delany won’t be reprising their roles from the Animated Series, but I’m willing to give it a chance.
The complete release follows, with another image of the action figures and info on the other PG-13 animated movies from Warner Bros.
Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer has inked a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce and direct the sequel to Superman Returns. Even though there is no budget or script, the film should hit the screen in 2009. The deal comes shortly after the announcement that Superman Returns passed the $200 million mark domestically. Even though the film has made $390 million world wide, I believe the studio was hoping to make that money in less time.
Audiences were split on the like it or hate it factor, with many expecting the movie to have more action than it did. I’ve heard the rumor that Lex Luthor will not be appearing in the sequel. So who will the master villain be? Brainiac and Parasite come to mind, but knowing how well the first film did, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were two giant polar bears. Singer and company have two years before the debut, I hope that is enough time to salvage the franchise.

The WB has confirmed that Heath Ledger will be playing the role of The Joker in the next Batman film. The company also reports that the title of the next bat-flick will be The Dark Knight. Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman, with Christopher Nolan directing. The film is expected to begin shooting in early 2007.

Okay, so Aquaman has been around for quite some time – you know, he can talk to fishes and stuff, and was in that classic cartoon show from the 70s and 80s. But no one really gave the brotha any love. This left the underwater hero as the butt of many jokes. Most recently the television series “Entourage” has Vincent Chase (played by Adrian Grenier) staring in the James Cameron (played by James Cameron) directed movie which became a huge blockbuster in the show. So much so that it even prompted a real life ad in Variety. And let’s not forget “A.C.” (played by Justin Hartley) appearing in The WB’s “Smallville”, which prompted a spin-off Aquaman pilot that was eventually dropped from the CW lineup. Since its debut on iTunes this week, the pilot has been the most purchased television show for download.
All this buzz about Aquaman now has many thinking Hollywood might actually be able to pull off an Aquaman movie. To make this strange tale of life imitating art even more bizarre, the talent agent at the center of this latest gossip is none other than Ari Emanuel – the real life counterpart to Entourage’s Ari Gold (played by Jeremy Piven).
Even though everything is still in the advanced advanced advanced rumor stage, the buzz is McG may be called up to direct this DC Comics controlled property. Of course this could all be wild speculation on the part of L.A. Times writer John Horn who broke the story today.
Several people involved in the preliminary discussions about a feature film said untangling the movie rights could prove difficult. A DC Comics spokesman did not return phone and e-mail messages. Emanuel was on a family vacation and could not be reached for comment. – John Horn in his L.A. Times article.
As we predicted earlier this week ,the success of Aquaman on iTunes would have everyone talking about breathing life into the written off character.

Just checked out the iTunes TV Show directory, and the pilot episode of Aquaman is sitting proudly at number one. The Warner show was cancelled when the CW network decided not to include it in their new network lineup. You can purchase the show for a mere $1.99, and at the rate the show has been selling, Warner Bros. will easily recoup the money spent on the pilot, and A.C. will remain at the top of the charts.

Those crazy kids over at the Legions of Gotham Forum have posted some images for the next season of The Batman series currently running on Kids WB. But be prepared for a major shock. Remember The Batman series is supposed to chronicle the early years of Batman and the origins (albeit skewed) of the bat rogue gallery. We already have a Batgirl and a Robin showing up in the series, but season three will have Nightwing and Oracle! If that isn’t bad enough, Black Mask, Harley Quinn, and a new character, voiced by Brandon Routh, Everywhere Man. Got your continutity panties in a bunch yet? If you thought the series sucked before, it looks like the show is trying bring back the Batman:TAS characters. Does the suck meter go to 11?

DC Comics (press release)–the world’s largest English-language publisher of comic books and the home of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman–Warner Home Video (WHV) and Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) have announced the start of production and distribution of “DC Universe,” a series of original, animated PG-13 movies. The announcement was jointly made by Paul Levitz, President, DC Comics; Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video and Sander Schwartz, President, Warner Bros. Animation.
The torpeadoed Aquaman series may not be coming to a channel near you (ever), but kudos to the WB who was wise enough to try and recoup their losses on the pilot by offering the show for download via the iTunes music store. This 41 minute episode can be purchase for a mere $1.99.
If sales of this pilot go over well, could this be the message to Warner Bros. to bring the show back into production for television audiences? Or could this merely be an attempt for the studios to make money off of something they have already written off? Or could this be yet another attempt to prove that no one wants to download less than quality videos via Bittorrent?
Years ago, self-assured dive shop owner Arthur “A.C.” Curry lost his mother in the mysterious Bermuda Triangle, and now he is honing his amazing aquatic abilities under the tutelage of a cryptic lighthouse keeper.

Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Adam Turner to write the screenplay for DC Comics Doom Patrol. Warner Bros. will be making the announcement this week at the San Diego Comic Con.
Remnicent of the X-Men and teamed like the Justice League, The Doom Patrol uses their freakish abilities to stop evil doers. The film will be produced by Akiva Goldsman via Weed Road Pictures.
At this time, no stars are attached, but who would make the casting call? Talk about it in the comments section.
