I completely let this bit of news slip past me yesterday, but it is a big day for Warner Bros. as it got to thumb its nose at Sony as The Dark Knight passed the $400 million mark in just 18 days, and should have passed Spider-Man overnight.
If the box office tickets continue to roll in, The Dark Knight could reach the $500 million making it the second highest grossing title of all time, just behind Titanic.

Warner Bros. has released high res images of those Watchmen promo posted viewed at the San Diego Comic Con.
Take the jump for all seven posters that are re-interpretations of the 1986 DC house ads promoting the series.

It’s not a surprise that Warner Bros. Dark Knight movie took the top spot again this past weekend, raking in another $75.6 million, bringing the 10 day total for the film to $312 million. Last week, I guess the movie would only see a 20% drop in ticket sales. I was proved wrong, as the film ended up dropping 52%. I wonder if Comic Con had anything to do with that…
Pics are starting to come in, including this improtu photo of Nathan Fillion and Wonder Woman. Fillion is one of the voice actors for the upcoming Warner Bros. Wonder Woman direct to DVD movie.

Seems like we’ll never go a season without some form of Batman or Justice League cartoon available for fans. The next outing for Warner Bros. Animation is Batman: Brave and the Bold. There are lots of recurring characters including Booser Gold and Skeets, who will be voiced by the original voice actors from JLU.

Looks like Warner Bros. is going all out in the cranking up the hype machine and tie-ins for next year’s Watchmen movie. The company’s interactive division has announced at least two Watchmen inspired games that tie to the movie.
The videogames based on WATCHMEN will go beyond the film and delve into the characters, rivalries and challenges in a mature action-brawler. The game provides gamers with visceral superhero combat as urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl.
The game will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows PCs in 2009. What’s interesting about this game announcement is the game will be downloadable, and will also be an episodic game. Does that mean you complete levels to move on to the next download or what?
WBIE execs said that by producing shorter downloadable games, rather than a full-priced disc version, they’ll have more flexibility to produce high-quality titles on a tight production schedule of just more than a year.
Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the upcoming Capeshooters comic book by Rob Liefeld.
In “Capeshooters,” two slackers become paparazzi who specialize in shooting covert videos of superheroes find themselves on the run after they stumble onto evidence that a revered superhero is actually a villain.
Seems like an interesting take, although it does seem like that premise has been done before. Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions will produce the adaptation, however while this looks like a films rights deal, BHH produces a lot of television series, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this landed on the WB small screen in series form.

I know people who have watched the Watchmen trailer over 100 times since it was released last week. I’ve also seen people bicker back and forth over the shots seen, and how close of an adaptation Zack Snyder will bring to the big screen.
To help in your decision making, Major Spoilers has gone through the trailer and compared shots from the movie with shots from the graphic novel. Take the jump to see the comparison for yourself.
UPDATE: Looks like Empire Online beat me to the punch by a couple of hours on this story. I honestly didn’t realize it until just a few minutes ago when submitting the story to DIGG. That’s what I get for sleeping last night.

I think everyone saw this coming after the spectacular opening night the Dark Knight had in theaters. It’s official now, The Dark Knight has officially pwned Spider-Man in the box office, taking in an estimated $155.3 million over the weekend. Even at two hours and forty-one minutes, the Dark Knight was able to best the third installment of the wall crawler series by $4 million.
“This is a career-capper for anybody who works on a film like this in our business,” Warners distribution president Dan Fellman said. “It’s a great ride, and it’s just beginning, Most of the big summer films have already come out, so we have a great play time ahead of us.”
Is the Dark Knight perfect? No, there are plenty of flaws that can be pointed out. Is it fun and entertaining? Oh yes. If you haven’t given Warner Bros. your $10 yet, you really ought to catch this movie in the theater. It is big, it is loud, and it is a thrill ride you won’t get sitting at home watching it on your 65-inch plasma. As we have seen this summer, and in fact all year, movies tend to have a major drop off going into the second weekend. I would be surprised if Dark Knight had and more than a 20% drop at the box office, and wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers rose a little bit given the numerous showings, fan hype, and the awesome performance by Heath Ledger.

Yesterday the Emmy nominations were announced with the incredibly awesome HBO series John Adams receiving the most nominations (23). Further down the list, DC’s New Frontier made it on the Animated Program (One hour or more) list alongside Family Guy’s Blue Harvest and South Park’s Imaginationland episodes.
Hands down New Frontier should get the award, but everyone in H’wood seems to be in love with Seth MacFarlane, so don’t be surprised if the Star Wars parody walks away with the award.

First it was Invincible getting the animated treatment, now Warner Bros. is announcing something very similar.
UPDATE: I just finished watching the 22 minute Chapter 1, and I must say it looks really good. The images are taken from the graphic novel, and do include word balloons and the like, but what makes this one stand out is that the panels are animated, with the figures moving, and shifting through the scene. The only thing that would have made this first episode better would have been if they could have gotten the character’s mouths to move. Other than that, it is worth checking out over on iTunes.
