Marvel sent out another batch of the Iron Man by Design variant covers that will be gracing Marvel titles in April, and we figured since we did it before, it make sense to feature this batch as our Art Appreciation Moment of the Day.

If you missed the big reveal in Ultimate X #1, fear not, as the sold out (at the distributor) first issue is heading back to press, according to Marvel.

Comics legend Jeph Loeb and superstar artist Arthur Adams finally answer the biggest question in the Ultimate Universe: “Who—or what—is Ultimate X?” In the wake of the disastrous Ultimatum Wave, a new player in the Ultimate Universe will emerge and change everything!

If you’ve seen the original cover, the big reveal is spelled out right there for you, but if you still need another clue, the variant cover features the last page of the issue.  The reprint is scheduled to arrive March 10, 2010.

Art Asylum announced the Marvel Select Cyclops figure a while ago that features a portion of the Danger Room as its base (presumably the other figures will have more Danger Room goodness). Now the company has announced a X-Factor Cyclops variant that will be packed 1:2 ratio (4 Silver Age to 2 X-Factor figures per case).

I don’t mind that companies like Art Asylum release variant figures, especially if the figure is different enough from the main figure, but it does bite that one has to purchase an entire case of the figures just to get the variant.  Still, it’s better than trekking to ten different toy stores in hopes of finding the variant on the shelves.

There’s been lot of talk across the Intardwebz in regards to the Siege #3 Deadpool variant deal Marvel is offering in exchange for 50 DC covers, and now that the variant cover has been revealed, I wonder if everyone thinks the deal is a good one or not.

Marvel has announced that Invincible Iron Man #21 has sold out at the distributor level. The company says they have not plans at the time to go back to print. In the meantime, check out the variant cover to Invincible Iron Man #22, that goes on sale January 13, 2010.

Image Comics announced Greg Capullo is providing a one-time variant cover featuring Omega Spawn for the Image United event.

“When it came time to choose an artist for our next guest variant, Greg Capullo was the first guy who came to mind,” Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson said. “From his early days following Todd on SPAWN to his creator-owned series CREECH and his work on HAUNT, Greg has become nearly as synonymous with Image Comics as any of the founders. Besides that, he’s also a phenomenal cover artist in his own right. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Retailers can order as many of the color variants as they want, but Image has also announced a 1:100 black and white version for those retailers who qualify.  So, if you want to take a trip back down 1990s way, you might want to pester your local comic shop for one of these.

When Jughead #200 arrives, it will not only feature a story by Tom Root, but will feature the company’s first ever variant cover.

“Something Ventured, Something Gained” takes Riverdale High’s fabled teens on their wildest ride ever, as Jughead trades his body’s metabolism to a witch in exchange for an irresistible mega cheeseburger… and everything goes bonkers from there with a chain reaction of cataclysmic proportions!

“The Archie Comics characters are comedy icons,” said Root.  “Each character’s personality has been so well-defined over the course of nearly 70 years that it was a lot of fun to shake them up and present them with new challenges.  Mostly, though, I just wanted to write a funny issue.  I hope Archie fans like it!”

Dynamite Entertainment announced an incentive cover for retailers for the upcoming RoboCop #2 issue arriving in February 2010.

For every 15 copies of RoboCop #2 ordered, retailers are eligible to purchase up to 2 copies of the EXTREMELY LIMITED ROBOCOP #2 PREMIUM “SPOT COLOR” VARIANT COVER.

In the issue OCP has released a brand new ED-209, and it might just be big enough, and powerful enough to defeat RoboCop.
