We’ve hit the jackpot with Marvel, finally getting on their advanced previews/review list, which means we have a whole slew of sneak peeks to share of the Marvel titles arriving this week (July 18).
Take the jump for The Order, Super-Villain Team-Up/MODOK’s 11, Thunderbolts: Desperate Measures, ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #111, WOLVERINE: ORIGINS ANNUAL #1, WOLVERINE: ORIGINS ANNUAL #1, WORLD WAR HULK: X-MEN #2 , and World War Hulk: Front Line.
UPDATE: Oops - We made a mistake! We accidentally posted the first couple of pages from World War Hulk #2. Totally my fault in misunderstanding a communication from Marvel. Those pages have been taken down and are no longer available on this site. World War Hulk #2 looks spectacular and arrives in stores on July 18. - stephen

I know I’ve fallen behind on my Ultimate Spider-Man reviews (go ahead check the Review section), and the next review will be rather interesting as it will mark the beginning of Stuart Immonen as the series regular penciler.
Marvel has sent us the two covers for issue #111, which arrives in stores July 18 for $2.99. I’ll have a review shortly after.

Because hey, can’t leave a saga hanging now can we?

One of the problems that comes with of having a day job (or two) is some things fall through the cracks until it is time to update the inventory in ComicBase and you suddenly remember, with dread, you forgot to review the final two parts of the Ultimate Spider-Man Clone Saga. Fortunately, for those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the final two issues, you now have an excuse to run down to the local shop and pick them up from the “why didn’t you buy this issue two months ago?” bin.

While I have no problem writing Best Of and Top Ten lists, this is my first year coming up with a Best Of list for comics, and it has been a real challenge. First there is the whole “thousands of titles out there” deal, then there is the fact that these kinds of lists are a touchy subject to write. What may be on my Best Of list, is on the @$$ List for someone else. Regardless, it’s time to look back over the year and see what was tops when it came to comics.

Talk about a wild ride. For seven issues, we’ve been treated to the Ultimate rendition of the Clone Saga served up by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley. Marvel Comics has announced another variant cover for Ultimate Spider-Man #104. In addition to the previously announced Mark Bagley homage to Joe Quesada’s cover to ultimate Spider-Man #1, a special White variant is also in the works. The White Variant is sure to be a hard to find item, as only one will be available for every 100 shipped.
Issue #104 wraps up the incredible Clone Saga as Spidey takes on Doctor Octopus in the biggest fight of his young life with the future of all those that he cares for at stake.
All three covers for Ultimate Spider-Man #104 will be available January 10, 2007 for $3.99.

When Ultimate Spider-Man #103 hits the stands it will set a new record for Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley for the most issues by a single creative team at Marvel. The previous record was held by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
The Clone Saga wraps up with a double-sized Ultimate Spider-Man #104, and to commemorate the event, Mark Bagley has created a cover of the web-head swinging through the streets of New York, in an homage to Joe Quesada’s cover to Ultimate Spider-Man #1. But hold on - is this the real Spider-Man under the mask? The big question on everyone’s mind will be, “What happened to all the clones and genetic twins unleashed during the Clone Saga?
If you have read all of the reviews I have done on the Clone Saga, you know this has been one heck of a ride, #104 will be in stores January 10, 2007 for $3.99.
