Chris Doyle from Reasonably Clever, and long time Major Spoilers reader, sent me a quick message to let us know he is running another unofficial LEGO contest on his site. This time around he’s challenging builders to design a special armor set for Iron Man.
Since this is not a contest endorsed by LEGO or Marvel, you aren’t going to see any official ties to either company, but you can win some cool prizes.
So if you are a LEGO-Maniac and have some Iron Man love, head over to the site for the complete rules, prizes, and all that other stuff.

Diamond Select Toys has announced the next wave of Marvel Minimates will feature characters from Marvel’s Civil War.

Civil War Captain America – Sporting a battle-damaged look, Steve Rogers returns (briefly) for this Minimate version of Captain America complete with removable mask, gloves and even a shackle accessory to recreate his shocking assassination.
Civil War Iron Man – The first Iron Man Minimate to feature his upgraded Extremis armor, this version also includes additional body parts and armor to create your own “un-armored” Tony Stark!
Civil War Spider-Man – While it may not have lasted for long (not counting those new-fangled Scarlet Spiders), Spider-Man’s latest look is captured in two-inch scale for the first time, along with a removable mask and alternate Peter Parker mode!
Civil War Nitro – The mutant that started it all, now you can bring home the villainous Nitro to reenact all your favorite Civil War moments. Just try to keep the explosions to a minimum, okay?
These are New York Comic Con EXCLUSIVES, so best get your tickets for the show, that runs from April 18-20 in NYC.

If you’ve been collecting Minimates for a while, you more than likely already have an Iron Man figure or two (or three or four in my case). Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum are releasing a new set based on the upcoming Iron Man movie.
The core assortment of Iron Man Movie Minimates will feature all-new armor designs as well as supporting characters and villains from the big-screen blockbuster. Mark III Iron Man & Pepper Potts, Iron Monger & Tony Stark and Mark I Iron Man & Jim Rhodes will make up this wave along with a limited Mark I Iron Man & Mark II Iron Man variant two-pack.
In addition to the regular moving parts, this collection will feature plenty of removable armor so you can recreate your favorite scene from movie - or lose amongst your ever growing collection of crap collectibles.

Fans of dolls action figures probably shed a little tear of joy when EMCE Toys brought back the Star Trek and Planet of the Apes figures based on the original MEGO molds. The company has decided to go a step further by getting some of the original MEGO gang back together to develop an original line of figures based on The Night of the Living Dead.
In time for the film’s 40th anniversary, figures based on the Graveyard Zombie, hero Ben, damsel-in-distress Barbra and iconic undead child Karen Cooper will be released throughout 2008. Graveyard Zombie and Ben will be the first released.
The heads are sculpted by fan favorite James Brady in the classic MEGO rotocast plastic style, and the figures are packaged in MEGO-style blister packaging with illustrations by original MEGO artist Harold Shull.
The first two figures will be released in 2008.
Take the jump for a look at Ben and his zombie.

NECA has released a couple of image of Kurt Russell’s Stuntman Mike action figure based on the character from the Grindhouse film.
A long-awaited fan favorite, Kurt Russell’s scarred serial killer makes his debut this summer. We’ll be debuting accessories and packaging later this spring.
I’d still rather have Kurt Russell from Big Trouble in Little China.

Check out the collection of Battlestar Galactica Minimates that arrive in stores this week to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original show. Not only do you get original scary cylons, there’s also Starbuck, Apollo, Muffit, and don’t forget Daggit.
Heh…Daggit…

What’s great about this collection is you can play with it alongside your new BSG figures (Starbuck vs. Starbuck) or Marvel and DC minimates. Not that I would know anything about that… really…
The new (and final) season of Battlestar Galactica kicks off soon, and thankfully it looks like we’ll make it through the year without an updated Daggit.
