Broken Trinithy Lithograph

Friday, August 29th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

Broken_Trinity_SPOKES.jpg

If you have some change to spare, you can either A) Make a donation in the Major Spoilers Tip Jar, or B) Drop some money on the Tip Cow Broken Trinity Lithograph.  Hey, it’s your choice, but I think we all know which one I would pick.

The limited edition lithograph featuring the Broken Trinity issue covers by Jeffry Spokes.

“We were introduced to Jeffrey Spokes’ work by Broken Trinity writer Ron Marz and I was immediately taken by his incredible sense of design and artistry,” says Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik. “We’re incredibly proud to offer Jeffrey’s three covers for Broken Trinity as the unbroken, beautifully iconic piece he originally envisioned.”

The lithograph arrives in October for $29.99.  Hey that’s plenty of time to save money for the lithograph and make a donation to the Tip Jar…

New Impaler on the Way, First Trade in October

Thursday, August 28th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

IMPALERTPB000PICON.jpg

Top Cow has announced the first volume of its Impaler trade will arrive in October, with a new sereis hitting stores in September.

In Impaler, a derelict cargo ship is found adrift offshore during a terrible blizzard in New York City. When New York’s Finest is sent to investigate the missing crew, an unspeakable horror is unleashed that quickly spreads all over the snow-covered borough, as a vampire plague quickly moves through the city’s population. The people’s only hope lies in Vlad Tepes, the real-life historical inspiration for the vampire legend, Dracula. Vlad the Impaler arrives to defend the city from the ever-growing vampire horde, but how much can one man do against an army of thousands?

“One of the nice things about having the break between the Image series and the new series is that it really gave me time to nail down where the story is headed,” revealed creator William Harms. “I have the next couple arcs already plotted, and I think fans of the book will really dig where things are going.”

The ongoing series will feature art by Matt Timson.

In Jingle Belle: Santa Claus vs. Frankenstein Dini has crafted a saga in which his heroine discovers Frankenstein’s monster wandering in the Artic wastes, finds him job in Santa’s workshop where all is well until an excessively politically correct city declares Old Saint Nick “taboo,” arousing the monster’s considerable ire.

Polls Open for Pilot Season 2008

Thursday, August 7th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

Pilot Season 2008 Poll.jpg

Top Cow has announced the polls are now open for readers to vote on the company’s new series for next year.

Pilot Season is an annual initiative Top Cow began in 2007 that borrows its concept from the television industry: Six “pilots” are submitted for consideration to be “picked up for a season,” except instead of TV executives deciding their fates, it’s the fans who decide by voting online. Last year’s top two vote getters, Cyblade and Velocity, will debut with new series later this year. Over four million votes were cast last year through a partnership with MySpace Comics.

Take the jump for the list of contenders, and the link to where you can cast your vote.

Dewan and Goss Sign for Magdalena

Thursday, July 24th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

magdalena.jpg

In the Major Spoilers Bonus Podcast #2 (get it now before it’s gone), I proclaimed 2008 to be the year of the comic book movie.  The major motion picture run of comic book adaptation won’t end in December, Dear Reader, oh no.  Expect to see every publishing company to make a deal with H’wood to get their property into the big screen in hopes of raking in millions.

The latest to go into prepro hell is Magdalena from Top Cow.  Announced to star in the flick are Luke Goss and Jenna Dewan.

Dewan is set to play Patience, a woman who discovers that she’s a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene who fight supernatural evil.

Goss will play Kristof, an agent sent by the secret organization that has been the guardian of the lineage.

Hey, if Magdalena can get picked up, I wonder if anyone is interested in my detective series?
