Universal Designs has announced it has acquired a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. to begin production of the Dark Knight Motorcycle suit. If you’ve ever wanted to impress the ladies while speeding down the highway on your souped up two wheeler, then you will want to check this suit out. Only 1,000 units are going to be made, so if you wanna be the cool guy in the next bike parade, you better place an order now. The whole set will only set you back $1,000.
I’ll let you make the “That codpiece looks a little small for me – Har-dee-har-har!” jokes.

According to those who know more than me, The Dark Knight movie has sold more that 13.5 million copies world-wide since its release a week ago. Even better, Warner Bros. is reporting that 1.7 million of those copies happen to be in the Blu-Ray format.
In 1989 Michael Keaton’s Batman movie hit stores just in time for the holiday season, and became the biggest seller on the VHS format for that year. The Batman movie is unique in that it was one of the first movies released on VHS only a few months after its theatrical run. Almost 20 years later, and it looks like Batman is doing that again for the HD format.
“We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath’s performance in ‘The Dark Knight,” said Ledger’s family in a statement. “This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud that our boy’s work is being recognized in this way.”
Well cool. Unfortunately, The Dark Knight was snubbed under the feature film categories.
Good news on this Tuesday – the same day the Dark Knight movie is released on DVD and Blu-Ray – finds the score for the Dark Knight movie eligible for Oscar consideration.
The branch initially ruled Nov. 10 that there were too many composers involved in the score; the Academy generally only considers scores that are the work of one or at most two composers.
I used to be really big into the scores for films, but now I’m more interested in the whole package and how all the elements work together to create an excellent product.
If you are a completist that absolutely must have everything related to a particular movie, Warner Bros. has made the script for the Dark Knight available from its website. The company released the script for Academy Award consideration.

Warner Bros. has announced it will rerelease The Dark Knight to IMAX theaters in January, right smack dab in the middle of Academy Awards voting season.
Warners domestic distribution president Dan Fellman acknowledged ongoing talks with Imax executives about the prospect of restoring the Christian Bale starrer to some number of giant-screen venues in January. It’s uncertain if “Dark Knight” also will reappear in conventional venues at that point.
There’s no question the company is sending the flick back to theaters to garner more attention for votes, but don’t think it is an attempt to make a run at Titanic’s number one spot in the all time box office money makers, as the DVD release of The Dark Knight arrives in December.
It was another three day weekend that allowed movie goers to flood into theaters to catch the end of the summer movie block buster extravaganza and push The Dark Knight beyond the $500 million mark domestically. While not even close to the vast fortune amassed by billionaire Bruce Wayne, the film has done so well, it now sits as only the second film in history to make this much money, surpassing Star Wars Episode IV, with only Titanic left to beat. Considering summer is over and Dark Knight would have to make another $140 million before the DVD release, I don’t see the film ever taking the number one spot.
I’m sure by now everyone has read Robert Downey Jr.’s comments about the Dark Knight movie, and DC in general, but just in case, let’s shake that hornet’s nest again.
My whole thing is that that I saw ‘The Dark Knight’. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved ‘The Prestige’ but didn’t understand ‘The Dark Knight’. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so f—king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? Fuck DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.
It’s a pretty sure bet, he won’t be in any DC related movies, hopefully his statement won’t affect his employ in any future Waner Bros. movies.
I completely let this bit of news slip past me yesterday, but it is a big day for Warner Bros. as it got to thumb its nose at Sony as The Dark Knight passed the $400 million mark in just 18 days, and should have passed Spider-Man overnight.
If the box office tickets continue to roll in, The Dark Knight could reach the $500 million making it the second highest grossing title of all time, just behind Titanic.

It was a tough battle at the box office this weekend as The Dark Knight went toe to toe with Brendon Fraser’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. While the Jet Li flick was able to bring in $42.5 millon for the weekend, Dark Knight barely edged out the fight with an estimated $43.8 million. Batman’s win brings the grand total to $394.9 million.
DC Direct has announced a new production run of the 1:6 scale deluxe Joker collector figure. The figure has been sold out for a while, and with the success of the Dark Knight movie, the company is trying to meet demand.
THE DARK KNIGHT: THE JOKER 1:6 SCALE DELUXE COLLECTOR FIGURE features an intricate fabric costume consisting of a shirt, tie, vest, blazer, pants, overcoat and loafers, with movie-specific accessories including three knives, a handgun with removable clip, a bank robbery mask, three sets of hands, as well as a display stand.
The new figure will be in stores September 10 for $89.95.
It’s not a surprise that Warner Bros. Dark Knight movie took the top spot again this past weekend, raking in another $75.6 million, bringing the 10 day total for the film to $312 million. Last week, I guess the movie would only see a 20% drop in ticket sales. I was proved wrong, as the film ended up dropping 52%. I wonder if Comic Con had anything to do with that…

I think everyone saw this coming after the spectacular opening night the Dark Knight had in theaters. It’s official now, The Dark Knight has officially pwned Spider-Man in the box office, taking in an estimated $155.3 million over the weekend. Even at two hours and forty-one minutes, the Dark Knight was able to best the third installment of the wall crawler series by $4 million.
“This is a career-capper for anybody who works on a film like this in our business,” Warners distribution president Dan Fellman said. “It’s a great ride, and it’s just beginning, Most of the big summer films have already come out, so we have a great play time ahead of us.”
Is the Dark Knight perfect? No, there are plenty of flaws that can be pointed out. Is it fun and entertaining? Oh yes. If you haven’t given Warner Bros. your $10 yet, you really ought to catch this movie in the theater. It is big, it is loud, and it is a thrill ride you won’t get sitting at home watching it on your 65-inch plasma. As we have seen this summer, and in fact all year, movies tend to have a major drop off going into the second weekend. I would be surprised if Dark Knight had and more than a 20% drop at the box office, and wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers rose a little bit given the numerous showings, fan hype, and the awesome performance by Heath Ledger.
