Or – “When They Said, ‘Get A Life,’ I Should Have Said ‘&$@$ YOU!”

So, for those of y’all who were not aware I DO have things on my weekly schedule that are NOT comic-related.  Not many of them, granted, but they do exist.  One of them is my day job, overlooking (I almost typed overworking) twelve awesome telephone service representatives in their day-to-day quest to resolve issues for our beloved customers.  August was a rough month for my guys (nicknamed “Team Ramrod”) and has required me to spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about AHT, IR, BP, SV, and other meaningless initials.  In any case, I’m officially back to let you know I can really shake ‘em down, with another smorgasboard-orgasbord-orgasbord of comicky goodness, all wrapped up in heavy weapons and pop-culture references. Yeah, I missed youse guys, too.

Or – “Because I’ve Fallen Further Behind Than Ever Before…”

I have to tell you, two weeks of being unable to type without crying like a little girl really makes your work pile up.  The last couple of weeks of comics have been a tumultuous ride, with a whole lot of minor things happening that made me happy.  An old favorite disappoints, while a surprise contender impresses the heck out of me.  British vampires, time-lost Arcturans, underground civilizations, the chupacabra, and a fifty-foot stalk of marijuana await you, beyond the fold!

Or – “It’s Always The Cute Ones…”

Megan Morse, also known as Miss Martian, has been something of an enigma among the Junior Justice League. Introduced during the “One Year Later” gap caused by 52, she has been pleasant, funny, bright and generally nice to be around. So, naturally, she’s a stone killer in disguise. Ever since it was revealed that she’s NOT one of J’onn J’onnz’ peaceful green Martians, but comes from the vicious line of white Martians, I’ve waited for her to grow fangs and try to eat people. After interacting with her own future self, and getting telepathically attitude adjusted, that day… has come!

According to a post at the Titans Go forum, DC is dropping Teen Titans Go! with issue #55. Those who have subscribed to the series will instead receive the new series Tiny Titans beginning in June.

Major Spoilers received an advanced copy of Tiny Titans last week, and it isn’t bad, but it also isn’t the angsty Teen Titans Go! title we have come to enjoy. The first issue of Tiny Titans arrives this week (February 13), and we’ll have a kid’s perspective of the series in a couple of weeks.

Or – “It’s An ‘Abused By Bruce Wayne’ Support Group Reunion!”

They apparently get a special rate at “Domino Masks R Us” for the case lot assortment… Teen Titans is a book that I keep meaning to get around to reviewing, vacilating as it does between superb and absurd, and now that we have a slow comic week, (and since Steve kindly covered the accompanying issue of Countdown yesterday) I thought we could check in with the junior JLA and their road to recovery after the devastating battle with Deathstroke. Though I’m irritated at the sight of Jason Todd (DC owes me $1.99 from when I voted to off the schmuck) at least it works in the story context…

Death of a New God

countdown48picon.jpg

Last week readers got a few clues into the mystery of Jimmy Olsen, Mary Batson stumbled upon a repowered Black Adam, Stinky made the other Monitors angry, and Karate Kid continued to hang out in a JLA cell. So what becomes of our key characters this week?

Warner Bros. Pictures has given the green light to a live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans with Mark Verheiden hired to write the script.

It is not known which heroes will be used, but Nightwing is said to be in the mix.

Goldsman said the tone will be consistent with such recent Warners’ comic book fare as “Batman Begins,” “Superman Returns” and the upcoming “Watchmen.”

Well WOOT! I really hope DC/Warner/Time Warner/AOL can get it together enough to create a team movie that actually works *cough*JLA-tv-pilot*cough*.

I was flipping through the trade of the Teen Titans: Terra Incognito and couldn’t help but crack up at the”modern” reference thrown out in this panel.

fun_panel_02.jpg

Gee Gar, does this mean the xBox pwns you?  These kind of reference will always seem weird in light of modern times and technology, but that also is what makes reading this old stuff fun.

picon.jpgDC Comics has made previews availabe for titles shipping January 31, 2007. Take the jump for all the goodness from Blue Beetle, JSA Classified #22, Teen Titans #43, and Trials of Shazam! #5. I’m especially interested in Teen Titans as we finally get to see what Deathstroke has been up to with Titans East!

Word from Comics Continuum is Robin will be joining The Batman family this fall on the Kid’s WB. Voiced by 14 year old Evan Sabara, of Malcom in the Middle and Chasing Amy fame, he will portray the Dick Grayson Robin in the Saturday morning cartoon. This is a change for Warner Bros./DC Comics, who last year at the San Diego Comic Con said Robin wouldn’t appear in The Batman as he had other duties with the Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans. Sabara will join Rino Romano (Batman) and Danielle Judovits (Batgirl) to help craft the stories of Batman’s early years.
