For some reason I’m on a Marvel kick this week, and I happened across this piece by Top Cow artist Stjepan Sejic.

Top Cow Entertainment has announced Witchblade #116 has sold out and is going back to press. It’s been a while since the title has sold out, and it looks like the creative team of Ron Marz and Stjepan Sejic are the reason.
“We knew that the re-pairing of the First Born team of Marz and Sejic was going to make people stand up and take notice, but we were incredibly elated to see how quickly retailers and fans supported this new era of Witchblade,” added Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik. “Even with a healthy overprint, issue #116 was an almost instant sell-out and we’re rushing back to do a second printing with a rare penciled image from Stjepan to fill demand.”
And what an image it is. You can see the full thing after the jump.

A lot of good work came from Sejic during his Witchblade: First Born run, and Top Cow Productions has announced Stjepan will now be the regular artist for the ongoing Witchblade series beginning with issue #116.
“Historic run, on the rise artist, longest running, and consistent,” said Sejic in a prepared statement, “In my personal dictionary these descriptions all fall under ‘hype’. As a fan, I’ve read my share of hype but as an artist my job is to destroy the skepticism in fans’ minds. I’m committed to doing just that. Ron [Marz] has amazing stories outlined and I’m extremely excited to show fans what I can really do. I’m in this because I love comics and telling stories, and these are going to be some badass stories!”
Witchblade #116 promises to be an ideal jumping on point for new readers. Following the events of First Born, the Witchblade was split in half and is now wielded by long-time bearer Sara Pezzini and neophyte Danielle Baptiste. Both women will have to adapt to the new changes in their lives and this issue will lay seeds for the upcoming landmark issue #125.
