Marvel Comics announced that the next chapter in its adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower is set to arrive in 2010, as Peter David, Robin Furth and Richard Isanove return to the series.

Beginning another epic tale, told over multiple limited series, Dark Tower: The Gunslinger marks another milestone for the graphic fiction sensation that’s captivated fans worldwide. The Dark Tower collaboration between Marvel and Stephen King has drawn accolades from all corners, revolutionizing the comic book industry with previously unprecedented mainstream media coverage and the first worldwide midnight openings for a graphic fiction series.

Meanwhile Roland Deschain is secretly released from gaol by someone who was considered unworthy to be a gunslinger but has since shown by completing several heroic actions that she has always had the full true measure of courage.

Unlike other trades and deluxe editions which filter their way to Amazon, B&N, and other outlets, this hard cover is being released exclusively to direct market retailers.

Del Ray Publishing has announced it will be doing the next to adapt Stephen King into comic book form, with Stephen King’s The Talisman getting the treatment.  Marvel Comics has previously adapted The Dark Tower, and is just kicking off The Stand.  This news has got to sting the House of Ideas just a little bit.
