And I have a feeling fans are going to strike back… hard.
Press Release
Dynamite Entertainment, comic book publisher, announced a new agreement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for a comics and series of graphic novels based on the long-running Stargate™ television franchise.
Based on the hit 1994 feature from MGM Pictures, the Emmy® nominated Stargate SG-1™ premiered in 1997 and spawned Stargate Atlantis™ in 2004. Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, are currently on air around the world and are watched by over millions each week. Stargate Universe™, the latest series for the franchise debuts stateside on October 2nd.

Fans going through withdrawal symptoms from missing Stargate SG-1 can ease that feeling of loss with a very cool looking Teal’c maquette done in an animated style.
The first in a new line of “Hero-Sized” animated maquettes, Teal’c is sculpted as we first meet him in the Stargate SG-1 pilot episode Children of the Gods: First Prime of Apophis and deeply troubled by what he has seen and done in his god’s name.
The maquette stands just over 9-inches high, and is limited to only 1,000 units. This is the first in a line of animated maquettes that Quantum Mechanix will produce from the SG-1 universe. Teal’c will sell for $89.95 when it begins shipping June 15, 2009.

For those concerned that Stargate Atlantis was ending, rejoice that Stargate Universe is beginning. The SGU crew will be lead by Robert Carlyle ( of Transpotting and The Full Monty fame). The 20-episode run is expected to begin shooting in February with a group of fresh faces.
Described as edgier, darker and younger-skewing than its predecessors, “SGU” follows a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians left to fend for themselves when forced through a Stargate after their hidden base comes under attack. The survivors, who emerge aboard an ancient ship missing in the far reaches of space, are led by Dr. David Rush (Carlyle), who works to unlock the ship’s mysteries and return the group home but also might have ulterior motives.
The series will be written and produced by SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis co-creators Brad Wright and Robert Cooper. The two-hour premiere is expected to air in the summer of 2009.
