Two more days until the 2008 Toy Fair kicks off in NYC, and it looks like there are going to be all sorts of goodies coming out of the show. If you know where to look, Diamond Select Toys has a picture of the Pumpkin Bomb. This replica goes on sale next month.

If you have been salivating anxiously waiting for all three Spider-Man films to be released in high definition, your wait is about to come to an end.
October 30th will see the release of Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray DVD. In addition to the stand alone release, fans will have the opportunity to buy the Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy that will feature all three Spider-films on Blu-ray as well.
With Sony and Disney fully entrenched in the Blu-ray camp, I smell the end of the HD DVD format. Of course if you are still sitting on the fence, or have already amassed a large HD DVD collection, you can always purchase a combo player and have the best of both worlds.
The latest poll has reached the minimum 100 votes, and the largest number of you agree Spider-Man 3 was an OK movie. With all the chaos going on at Stately Spoiler Manor, I finally had a chance to see S3 this past weekend. I’m going to have to agree with the majority here. It was a fun and entertaining movie (especially since I was the only one in the theatre), but nothing too spectacular that had me gushing with uber-fanboy enthusiasm like I was at the end of Spider-Man 2. I think it was the killing of Harry Osborn and the fact the movie suffered from Too Many Villains syndrome. For some reason multi-villain stories work great in comics, but not on the silver screen. I think it has something to do with time limits, or budgets, or even lack of quality writing.
The good news? Spider-Man 4 is in the works, and it looks like we’ll be seeing Black Cat and Dr. Kurt Connor – The Lizard (and maybe even Kraven) take on the web-head.
In the battle of the box office it wasn’t Pirates v. Ninjas this past week, but rather pirates taking on the webhead. According to box office results, Pirates did a very good job in its first six days in the box office, but Sony is claiming Disney/Buena Vista pulled out some fuzzy math to propel the pirate movie above S3.
Arguably, the flap originated when Sony opened “Spider-Man 3″ on a Tuesday in 18 overseas markets and later claimed a six-day opening record of $232 million in addition to other more conventional landmarks.
Disney/BVI followed by heralding its “six-day” record of $251 million. But throughout the past weekend, verbal darts were flying — mostly off the record — about which distributor included or excluded certain boxoffice figures to bolster their respective claims.
As I’ve always said there are three kinds of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics. Depending on which way each of these companies is tabulating their statistics on the box office draw, it could go either way. Instead of projecting figures, companies like Sony and BVI should use actual figures. This keeps them out of all sorts of hot water in reporting how much they owe their stars and such.
Saturday was a busy weekend for comic fans. First it was Free Comic Book Day, then there was that whole Planet ComiCon dealie, but the big event had to be the Extra Life Nerdtacular Spider-Man III event sponsored in part by Major Spoilers.
Scott Johnson (above center) rented out some theatre space with over 90 fans showing up for this free showing. There he tossed out free comic books, T-shirts, and other spidey related freebies.

We should have more photos and a review of Spidey 3 from the man himself as soon as he catches up on his sleep, and check back often as there will be another Nerdtacular event next year, this time featuring a movie from the DC universe. I gotta tell you, you are witnessing the beginning of something HUGE! Each year this continues, it will only increase in size.

It only took three days for Spider-Man III to make $148 million in North America, beating the previous record of $135 million set by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Does this mean a Spider-Man 4 is just around the corner?
Calling the results “spectacular,” [Amy Pascal, co-chairman Sony Pictures Entertainment] said the studio already was at work on the now inevitable “Spider-Man 4.” “We’re a lot further on than we usually are,” she said. “We usually don’t talk about the next movie until the current one is released, but we’re already talking about what we want to do in the next one.” She added that conversations about bringing back Raimi and the other principals would begin once a script is in place because “that’s what they sign on to do.”

Yes true believers, Spider-Man III is upon us and even though the flick did not open in the US first, the movie is breaking box office records left and right raking in $29.2 million in 16 foreign markets.
Their findings revealed that all 16 bows of the third film adaptation of the comic-book superhero beat the openings days of both “Spider-Man 2″ ($15.6 million) and the initial “Spider-Man” ($10.6 million), bested the combined gross of both previous films, and that four territories came up with their biggest single days of all time.
This sounds like it is going to be a kick-ass movie, and I can’t wait to see it this weekend!
With the Spider-Man III movie hitting US theaters this weekend, it makes perfect sense to play on the characters and villains from the movie throughout the various Spider-Man titles from Marvel. The company has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek at the upcoming Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Annual #1 featuring the oigin of the Sandman.
Comcast has posted the final high quality Spider-Man III trailer we’ll see until the movie hits the silver screen in May. You are really going to want to check this trailer out, as it is all about Venom and how Eddie Brock becomes the third villain in the film. It looks awesome!

The Spider-Man III video game takes you below the streets of New York as you battle Venom, Sandman, and more. Looks pretty awesome to me, although I really wonder if subway tunnels and sewers are that big.

If you were blown away by the five minute preview of 300, Sony and NBC have teamed up to present a 7 1/2 minute sneak peek of Spider-Man 3. A much longer fight sequences between Peter Parker and Harry Osborn is seen, as well as a shot of giant Sandman and another of Venom.
If you want to download the high definition trailer yourself, you better hurry, it will only be online for 24 hours.

Spider-Man 3 is just around the corner and that means toy tie-ins can’t be that far behind. One of the first available will be the Diamond Select Toys Spider-Man 3 Minimate 2 pack featuring the classic red and the new black costume.

Oops! As much as Sony wants to keep the ending to Spider-Man 3 and Venom under wraps, along comes Medicom Toy Company and spoils it all by revealing their S3 toy line.
Gone is the white spider, replaced by the dark gray lines instead. Looks pretty wicked. Word on the street is the figure will cost near $100, but the link on the Sideshow Collectibles site that had the pre-order information is now mysteriously missing.

Many of you weren’t too thrilled when Venom didn’t make an appearance in the Spider-Man 3 trailer I posted last week. Well Web-heads, I did the research and found the San Diego Comic trailer that does include shots of Venom at the end.
UPDATE: As fate would have it, the video has been removed from YouTube (thanks Sony). But fear not, I still have an image of Venom for you to enjoy.
