The CW has released a new promo for the upcoming April 2, 2010 return of the show to the network.

The CW sent word that Smallville is coming back to the CW Network for a tenth season in 2010.
“Smallville,” a modern retelling of the Superman legend, stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent. The series moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television’s #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, “Smallville” has dramatically improved The CW’s ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00p.m.time period by 67% among adults 18-34 (1.5/6), 200% in men 18-34 (1.8/7), 75% in adults 18-49 (1.4/5), 183% in men 18-49 (1.7/6) and 74% in total viewers (3.12million).
The last two seasons have been really interesting with the introduction of supporting cast heroes, and if they can somehow convince Geoff Johns to come back and pen a few more episodes in season 10, and bring back Kristen Kruek, the CW will have sucked me back in, yet again.

According to Kryptonsite, Max Lord will appear in episode 19 of this season’s Smallville. It’s unclear at this point if he will be a good guy, or a bad guy. Considering the Junior Lifeguard Association is still forming, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him as the financier for the group, and later to be revealed to be working for Pam Grier’s Checkmate.
“Charade” is expected to air in April.

Last Friday saw the premiere of Smallville: Absolute Justice on the CW. In it, Clark meets with the Justice Society of America (well, Hawkman, Sandman, the Star Spangled Kid, and Star Girl) and viewers got to see the notion of Clark’s team beginning to form their own family.
With all the build up, and the final reveal, the big question for you is, “Did you like it?”

Smallville: Absolute Justice hit a record high in the Friday night spot since its last high showing way back in September 2008. According to the CW, Smallville performed well in all key categories, including “adults 18-49 (1.2/4), men 18-49 (1.5/5), adults 18-34 (1.1/4), men 18-34 (1.3/5) and total viewers (2.8mil), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Friday, Feb. 5, 2009.”
2.8 million may not seem like a lot when shows like The Ghost Whisperer brings in 8.8 million viewers, but it is big news for the CW. Now if only those 2.8 million people would actually go out and buy comic books, we might be able to give the industry the kick in the pants it needs.
You can bet this one will be on the DVR for sure.
Here’s another clip from this week’s big Smallville event.
Just saw the trailer for Smallville: Absolute Justice that is running on Canadian television, and it reveals a lot more detail in the JSA action we’ll see on screen come February 5. If you’re upset that the Canadians got a better look at the show than we did in the first episode, keep in mind we’ll see it first as it airs up north on February 7, 2010.

The Silver Banshee is one of those villans that can be really cheesy, really kick-ass, and/or really sexy, and the CW has given the live action role of the vengeful spirit to Odessa Rae. Rae will appear in the episode 16, currently titled “Escape”.
Also returning to Smallville this season for at least one episode will be Anette O’Toole, reprising her role as Martha Kent.
The CW has released one more trailer for the upcoming Smallville: Absolute Justice made for TV movie, airing February 5, 2010.
The big highlight is seeing Hawkman’s visor in action, and all “trophy” case in the JSA headquarters.
There’s also the promo poster, that you can see after the jump.
If you look closely you’ll see Jay Garrick and Hawkgirl’s helmets, as well as another look at Sandman.
A bunch of sites found these images over the holiday weekend, but it looks like most are attributing the source to Entertainment Weekly, so we’ll go with that. If you were wondering what some of the other characters from the upcoming Smallville: Absolute Justice were going to look like, here you go:

Gotta say, I’m loving the Doctor Fate costume, and Stargirl doesn’t look half bad either. And for those who are desperately searching for more Hawkman images, here’s a bonus shot.

If you were disappointed by the image of Hawkman in the upcoming Smallville: Absolute Justice movie, you might just change your mind after seeing the trailer the CW is running that gives you a sneak peek of a couple more characters, including Sandman and Atom.

A lot of people hate the costume and look of Hawkman from the upcoming Smallville TV movie, so I’ve flipped from Batgirl to a Carter Hall kick, which lead me to this Evan Shaner piece.

The CW is joining the two part Justice Society episode into one long two hour movie called Smallville: Absolute Justice. There’s no word if the episode will sell in a hardcover slipcase with a $75 price tag, but it will feature a feathered Hawkman winging around.
Penned by comic book hero Geoff Johns, “Society” marks the arrival of Justice Society members Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and Stargirl.
To accommodate the movie, Smallville: Absolute Justice has been moved from January 29 to February 5, 2010.
