If you fell in love with The Simpsons Movie, and were hoping to see more of the yellow skinned family on the big screen, you’re going to have to wait a while. Simpsons creators Matt Groening and Al Jean that the task of producing a movie and a television show was just too much to handle, so they’ve put any new movie plans on hold, at least until the television series wraps production.
When might the television show end? The show, now in its 21st year shows no signs of slowing, and as long as Groening and Fox can get along, we could see the animated series go for another five years, easily.
“It took 18 years to get around to doing the movie,” Groening said. “We got very frustrated. We thought it would take two years but it ended up taking four. Some day maybe we’ll do another one — but don’t hold your breath.”
If you happen to be in Bellflower, California this week, you might want to stop by Metropolis Comics and check out the first ever Simpsons Comics Crossover event, complete with special guests Batton Lash, Tone Rodriguez and Bill Morrison, who will be there to sign and sketch.
The events and promotions coordinator also let me know that there will be donuts (mmmmmm… donuts….) for all – or as long as they will last.

The Simpsons, currently in its 20th year as a regularly scheduled half-hour series, is the longest-running comedy in television history. The show is a cultural phenomenon, recognizable throughout the world.

Hoping to cut costs and keep the company afloat, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. not only announced it may cut 800 jobs, it is also canceling orders for The Simpsons and The Martha Stewart Show. Martha I can understand, as that seems to be more of a method of torture than entertainment, but to deny our America’s Hat brethren the antics of those silly yellow people, is simply no way to run a television network.
The pubcaster also said it will lower license fees and order fewer episodes of such popular Canadian TV series as “The Border,” “Being Erica,” and “Little Mosque on the Prairie” to deal with a growing advertising downturn.
Because it is a slow, slow, day, here is The Simpson’s show open done in LEGO.

Hey Everybody!
I’m sorry for the obvious AD placed right here, but there comes a time in every person’s life, when it is time to give up a little something to keep something bigger and better (this site) going.
I’m clearing out space in the Major Spoilers Comic Book Room and am selling a huge portion of my Simpsons action figure collection.
If you are fan of the Simpsons, and want to help a brother out – check the auctions after the jump.

20th Century Fox and the voice cast of The Simpsons have reached an agreement for more money, and the animated series will go on.
Under the pact, the top actors will be paid nearly $400,000 per episode. While this is lower than the reported $500,000 the cast originally sought, it remains a significant increase from their current paychecks of about $300,000 an episode.
Rest assured, this agreement means the Simpsons will be on for four more years.
Uh… yea!? Is anyone still watching this show? The show stopped being laugh out loud funny about 10 years ago.

There’s a new genre in town – the made for movies television show.

I had a chance to go watch the Simpsons Movie yesterday, and I have to tell you, I wasn’t impressed. Instead of going into a long review of the movie, I’ve got my thoughts after the jump.
Emmy Nominations were announced this week, with several comic fan favorites making the list.
Under the category of Drama Series, NBC’s Heroes, the surprise hit of the year makes the list, as does Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura for Supporting Actor in a Drama. The series also received a nod for Art Direction, and editing for the Heroes: Genesis episode.
While not comic-specific, Entourage, which featured series star as Aquaman in the Season 1 arc, made the list all over the place – and if you aren’t watching the HBO series, what’s wrong with you?
Battlestar Galactica also had several nominations including Felix Alcala in the Director for a Drama category, Ronald D. Moore for writing the two part Occupation/Precipice episodes. The series is also up for Sound Editing For A Series, as is the CW’s Smallville.

“They” are going all out to promote the Simpson’s movie. First it was turning 7/11s into Kwik-E Marts, now it is mocking an ancient carving in England.
In Dorset there is a giant chalk carving of a naked, sexually aroused giant, that many believe is an early symbol of ancient spirituality. Next to said carving, some jokers painted Homer offering the giant a donut… or is he playing ring toss? It’s so hard to tell…
The painted Simpsons character has been painted with water-based biodegradable paint which will wash away as soon as it rains.
Ann Bryn-Evans, joint Wessex district manager for The Pagan Federation, said: “We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind.
“We’ll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away.”
She added: “I’m amazed they got permission to do something so ridiculous. It’s an area of scientific interest.”
According to the BBC report, this isn’t the first time Mister-stand-at-attention has been used in an advertising campaign.
I say kudos to the 20th Century for having some fun in promoting the movie, let’s just hope they are as understanding should the movie tank, with the jokes being made on them.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Simpsons Movie, scheduled to be released July 27, will feature Bart Simpson showing his goods during a naked skateboarding scene.
After a series of scenes where strategically-placed extras and props protect his modesty, the audience gets a full view of his private parts through a gap in a hedge.
Series creator Matt Groening, speaking to the audience after the clips were screened, said he expected complaints.
“In America there’s someone willing to pretend to be offended by everything and so we annoy people and that’s part of the appeal,” he said. “It’s to entertain people and also to annoy a certain segment of the audience as well.”
Well this should certainly get everyone all excited about nothing. While I love the Simpsons, the television series has really tanked since Conan O’Brian left many years ago. It also sounds like the creators are going for a lot of shock value that they couldn’t do on television, ala South Park: Bigger, Badder, Uncut. There’s no word if audiences will see the Full Monty, or will have to use their imaginations through pixelated censorship. If we do get to see some full frontal, it will be the first time in a PG-13 rated movie.
Northants News is reporting writer Alan Moore will be appear on an upcoming episode of the Simpsons.
Moore, aged 53, recorded his lines at The Lodge studios in Abington Square last month for an episode which will be called Husbands and Knives.
The Simpsons’ production team are long-time fans of Moore’s, whose reputation in the world of graphic novels is legendary.
A chance meeting with his fiancée Melinda Gebbie got the project rolling.
Mr Moore said: “Mel was in America promoting our new book The Lost Girls and one of the Simpsons producers spoke to her and asked if I would be in the show.
“She said: ‘Why don’t you give him a ring he’s very approachable’. “I was happy to do it. I’m a big fan of The Simpsons.”
No info on the date the episode will air.
