DC Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek at a couple titles arriving in stores this week. This week Detective #829 (not written by Dini) finds a trapped Bruce Wayne unable to done his costume, instead relying on Robin to save everyone in Wayne Tower.

This week also features the second installment of Shazam! The Monster Society of Evil. I’m already in love with the retelling of this tale, and can’t wait to devour the story and art in this Jeff Smith title. Read the rest of this entry »

picon.jpgDC Comics has made previews availabe for titles shipping January 31, 2007. Take the jump for all the goodness from Blue Beetle, JSA Classified #22, Teen Titans #43, and Trials of Shazam! #5. I’m especially interested in Teen Titans as we finally get to see what Deathstroke has been up to with Titans East!

Jeff Smith has an interesting argument for why Mr. Talky Tawny works in Shazam!, and even gives readers a glimpse of said talking tiger over at his blog page. Of even greater interest is Smith’s breakdown of the creation of a panel; from blue pencil to inks to completion.

I can’t say it enough, I am totally digging what is going on with MSE. While it is a modern retelling of the original story, I’m going to guess Smith is going to slam dunk this mini-series.

Jeff Smith has updated his blog to include sketches and images of the very young Mary Marvel from the upcoming DC Comics Shazam! Monster Society of Evil mini-series.

This is one series I can’t wait to pick up. Smith’s artwork rocks, and I’m becoming more and more of a Shazam fan each day.

Shazam! Monster Society of Evil #1 hits stands February 7, 2007.
