The Freshmen Headed to Big Screen

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

Seth Green, the creator of the Top Cow series, The Freshmen, is planning on directing the big screen adaptation of the series.

“You know, it’ll probably need a studio for release. My estimation is to make this movie the way we want to make it, we’ll need independent financing. But the nice thing about independent financing is, you know, a small-budget film is $35 million these days. And that’s about what we’d need to make it.”

The flick is currently in the script writing stage.  If this movie makes it out of PrePro Hell, this will be Green’s second job as director.

Freshmen II #1.5 Available Online For Free

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

frii1point5cov.jpgTop Cow Productions let us know they have created a special supplemental issue, entitled Freshmen II #1.5, and have made it available for free on the Freshmen website (www.freshmencomic.com). This online issue expands the story for some of the characters in the group.

This story is a stopgap between issues #1 and #2, and it develops a subplot that explores the relationship between Brady and Renee through Annalee’s powers. It’s a simple, quiet story featuring just a couple of our kids, and it’ll reveal the finer details of a shortcut we’re taking in developing the plot between the first two issues., commented writer and co-creator, Hugh Sterbakov.

According to Sterbakov, you don’t need to read #1.5 in order to enjoy issue #2.

If you missed the first six issue run of the Freshmen created by Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov, head over to Drunk Duck and read the first issue there (www.drunkduck.com/Freshmen).

The Freshmen Return

Monday, September 25th, 2006--by Top Cow

FR2002CVR_CMYK_WConrad.jpgIt’s fall again and students are returning to colleges and universities around the U.S. The super-powered students of Top Cow’s hit series Freshmen are no different.

Hot on the heels of last year’s six-issue mini-series, Top Cow is launching Freshmen II: Fundamentals of Fear in November. Co-created by actor and producer Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Buffy), and writer Hugh Sterbakov, the first Freshmen series introduced the world to a diverse group of college freshmen who are turned into the funniest group of super heroes to date after being exposed to the Ax-Cell-Erator. Like the newest campus party, Freshmen II promises to be louder, bigger, and more hilarious than the original mini-series as Sterbakov pulls out all the stops. And that’s not all.
