We at Major Spoilers are big fans of Clancy Brown, so the rumor going around that Brown may be playing Lobo in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film, has us a bit excited. Except… well… Brown isn’t the youngest chickadee on the block anymore, and while he is still imposing, and a great actor with a killer voice, he’s just not a cut as he was back when he was chopping heads off in The Highlander.
So what is H’wood to do? While the news that Brown is involved in the Lobo flick is just a rumor, wouldn’t it be interesting to see Lobo brought to life as a fully CG character interacting with the rest of the bastiches in the film. Or maybe the studio will just slap a big plastic chest on him and convince the world it’s real.
One of the Legion of Spoilerites attending the Armageddon Comic Con in New Zealand dropped us a quick note from one of the panels. The attendee told us that Greg Rucka let slip that Dennis O’Neil would be working with him on the Blackest Night: The Question issue. This news hasn’t been announced from DC yet, and the January solicitations don’t mention O’Neil anywhere in the issue info, so for now, we’ll say O’Neil is rumored to be working with Rucka until something more official is announced.
Thanks for the head’s up Dan!
The rumor mill is running wild following a flurry of name drops and what ifs that came out of H’wood this past weekend. The latest is the rumor that Jackie Earle Haley (Bad News Bears, Watchmen, and Freddy Krueger) is up for the role of Sinestro in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. I can see the Haley as Sinestro, although he is a tad on the short side, and I was really expecting someone like Willem Dafoe or a Jude Law type to fill the part.
And since we are on big on rumors this morning, it sounds like Warner Bros. might also be trying to get a Superman cameo in the film as part of the whole “it worked for Marvel, let’s make it work for us” schtick.
The Kenneth Branagh directed Thor cast might just get a little bit bigger if reports of new cast members is true. Matthais Schweighofer let slip that he, Jude Law, and Robert De Niro were all up for parts in the upcoming Thor movie. With all the Asgardians needed to fill roles, it wouldn’t surprise me to see other well known celebs make appearances, however with Loki already cast, I wonder what part Jude Law would play, let alone Schweighofer and De Niro.

During the D23 Expo held in Anaheim this past weekend, John Lasseter quashed rumors that Pixar was looking at Marvel’s Ant-Man for a possible movie.
“I had met all the folks from Marvel a couple of times and they’re terrific,” says Lasseter, a man of few words regarding Pixar’s interest in Marvel properties, “The whole ‘Ant-Man’ thing is just a rumor.”
Not off the table is the possibility that Monsters, Inc. and the Incredibles would be returning to the big screen with sequels for each.

The latest rumor surrounding the third installment of the Christopher Nolan helmed Batman franchise, now has Catwoman being played by Megan Fox. This news comes from The Sun out of the UK, which previously had Cher playing the cat-themed thief, and Eddie Murphy signed as the Riddler. Keep in mind, that many consider The Sun to be on par with Weekly World News, and that Nolan has even gone on record as to say that there is no script for the third Batman film, which puts this Megan Fox story clearly in the longshot bet category.
But hey, at least it got us to feature Megan Fox on the site once more.
For more interesting, and probably closer to reality news, IMAX and Warner Bros. have been hinting that the third film might be shot exclusively on the IMAX format. Portions for The Dark Knight were shot on the format with great success, but the lack of cameras, large size, and cost, might still prevent the IMAX experience from playing out.
A friend of mine trying to qualify for nationals at the Magic: The Gathering event in Kansas City overheard one of the developers slip up and reveal the name of the next set after “Zendikar,” The second set in the Live/Long/Prosper block will be named “World Breaker.”
This is a surprisingly big bit of news since it’s one of the few clues we have about “Live” so far.
You heard it here first, kids. Major Spoilers! Now spoiling trading card games as well!
Even though Stephen Chow dropped out as the director of the Seth Rogen Green Hornet film, it looked like he was still going to be on board for Kato. Then came word last week that the company was searching for a no-name to play the sidekick to the wealthy action hero.
In an interview with Ain’t It Cool News, Rogen said
We are reading many, many people from all over the globe, and it is a wild adventure. We’re just looking everywhere, honestly. We’re looking at people who are really famous overseas, and we’re looking at people who are completely unknown. We’re looking at people who are American. We’re looking at people who are martial arts experts. We’re also looking at people who don’t do any martial arts, and who do Broadway and are actors. We know what we want. And there’s some wiggle room. We’re the type of writers who can easily adapt the roles to whoever is playing it. We’ve done that on every movie we’ve ever written. But we know how we want the relationships to work, and so someone needs to fill that general role. It’s been really interesting, I can say that. You meet these people, and you’re like, “You are clearly famous in Korea! I can see from 100 feet away that you are the most famous person in whatever country you’re from!” (Laughs) And I just feel bad that we make them read with us.
Even though the production seems to be in trouble, it is moving ahead full steam with news that Nic Cage is in talks to play the big bad in the action comedy flick.

Double Helix and Warner Bros. have teamed up to develop a Green Lantern video game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. This sounds like a perfect build up to the Green Lantern movie set to debut in 2011. With Ryan Reynolds signed as Hal Jordan, I wouldn’t be surprised if his voice appeared in the game.
There’s no confirmation from Warner Bros. on this news, so we’ll have to file it under rumors for now. Of course that news may change during the flurry of announcements from the San Diego Comic Con.

Who knew when I went to bed last night at 1:00 AM after wrapping up a round of Major Spoilers projects, that Harry Knowles and his Ain’t It Cool News, would set the Intardwebz aflame on Friday morning with possible news about Green Lantern casting.
AICN posted the rumor that Justin Timberlake has been suiting up in the green and black suit for some screen tests, and may be the favorite by Warner Bros. to play the emerald knight.
Before you get all worked up in a tizzy, Empire Online counters with news that Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds are also vying for the role of the Green Lantern.
As much as I like Ryan Reynolds, we’ve already seen what happens when an actor jumps from one comic book property to another, so if he lands the role there will have to be a balancing act between Deadpool and Green Lantern. I also don’t have anything against Justin Timberlake, he’s a pretty good actor, especially as a deformed war vet in Southland Tales.
Instead of everyone getting all worked up over just one actor playing Green Lantern, let me throw this one into the blender – what if all three of them were being eyed for Green Lantern? How interesting would it be to see everyone who’s been rumored to be up for GL (including Nathan Fillion) appear here and there as part of the Green Lantern Corps as Warner Bros. moves ahead with two additional sequels? Remember, Warner Bros. and DC did hole up for several days last year to figure out what they could do with their properties as the movie studio and comic book company try to develop a cohesive movie universe.
I now turn it over to you, the Major Spoilerite Elite* to talk this rumor out.

Here’s another rumor to file in the appropriate category – rapper/actor The Game is being prepped to play B.A. Baracus in the upcoming The A-Team movie.
As an actor, he’s only got a few credits under his belt, but he was pretty menacing and intimidating – two qualities that any actor needs to play a man who goes by the name, Bad Attitude – in Street Kings. He may also have the lightness of touch to play a man who, thanks to his aversion to flying and fondness for punchy one-liners, isn’t your average muscle-bound tough guy.
I wonder how he feels about flying. Mr. The Game, would you like some buttermilk?

Here’s the latest roundup of rumors, tid-bits, and bric-a-brac out of H’Wood. Some might be true, some might be way off base, but all of them should stir a little something in that head of yours.

Word is spreading through the blogosphere that Phil Jimenez is stepping in to replace artist Simone Bianchi on the Astonishing X-Men series written by Warren Ellis. It’s interesting if it is true, as Simone is a really dedicated artist who does some pretty “astonishing” art.
But what the hell do I know if this is true, the story first appeared on Superpouvoir.com, which is a French website, and I don’t speak French, plus the story has been removed from the site. We’ll find out more on Tuesday at 12:00 EDT, right here on this site, but you’ll have to do some math and pay careful attention to “the post” to see if this is the real deal or not.

I’m finding the best way to start my morning is to take a peek under the hood of Hollywood and find out what is percolating. Today, it’s a dose of Spider-Man 4, Star Trek, Ghostbuster, and Dragonball news. Yup, Dragonball, with a bit of A-Team news to boot.

I’m digging the way networks are dealing the with the summer season. Instead of being inundated with rerun after rerun (hey, hey, hey hey!), we get a heaping serving of new shows. Last week, Burn Notice returned to the USA Network, and those that dig on vampires should have their appetite satiated following last nights series return.
But what about other shows? Take the jump to read a quick rundown of the rumors surfacing about a possible new Time Lord appearance in Doctor Who, Eureka gets a new girl, and a possible lesbian relationship on Heroes.
