Image steps up again with another teaser image to promote the Astounding Wolf-Man series by Robert Kirkman.

Image Comics is taking a cue from Marvel by sending out a one sheet promo for the upcoming Walking Dead.

Now this is more like it

I don’t know what happened in the second part of that two-part crossover issue that began in Invincible #57, and frankly, I don’t care. What I do care about is the intricate universe Robert Kirkman has created in Invincible and the myriad of characters in it. The latest issue returns readers to the good ol’ days of a young superhero and all the people in it.

There are comics scheduled to arrive on December 24, and Image has a couple you’ll want to check out. Take the jump for a sneak peek of Invincible #57, the Parade (with Fireworks) trade paperback, Savage #3, and The Walking Dead Omnibus Volume 2.
This week, on a very special Invincible…

What a world of difference a couple of years make. Back in the day, you’d open up a copy of Invincible and see bashing and smashing, intrigue, and teenager trying to live a normal life with super powers. But our Mark Greyson has grown up, and as he comes into his own, he’s got to face a lot of adult situations. Situations like premarital sex, a sibling that needs an intervention, and domestic violence. Heady topics, indeed.

I know there are Major Spoilerites who have been decrying Robert Kirkman’s shipping schedule (you know the one that is never on time). Well, Kirkman promises he’s going to change in 2009, by getting his titles out on time.

In addition to the Image United, a six-issue mini-series written by Robert Kirkman, and featuring characters and art from the Image Comics founders (with George Perez doing the layouts), Image had a few other things to announce at the show.
I guess Robert Kirkman has too many hours in the day, because Image comics has announced the Kirkman, Jason Howard Astounding Wolf-Man will turn into a monthly title this July.
“Frankly, I just couldn’t stay patient,” ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman said. “Over the past year THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN has become one of my favorite books to write and, even more so, seeing the pages pour in from Jason has made me crave MORE! With the impending shocker we’ve got coming in issue 7, we decided to switch the book from once every sixty days to every thirty! I certainly think folks will be happy with the results.”
The 32-page Astounding Wolf-Man #8 will arrive July 30, 2008.

Robert Kirkman has posted an image of Science Dog over at his blog site. The fictional movie character from the pages of Invincible is a hero to the title character and he’s appearing again in Invincible #50.

Image Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of titles arriving next week. It’s a small collection this week featuring Crawl Space #1 (yay zombies!), PVP #35, and The Walking Dead #43 (yay, more zombies!).
Image Comics has announced Tech Jacket, the first series by Invincible and Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman, will be collected in a trade paperback. Tech Jacket tells the story of Zack Thompson, an ordinary teenager until his family was thrust into the center of an alien civil war. As usual when these things happen, Zack was fused against his will with a battle vest capable of granting him power far beyond those of mere mortals.
“Tech Jacket has always been a big favorite of mine,” Kirkman says. “Zack’s not like a typical comic book teenager. He’s far from a big dork or a wealthy heir. His family is working class – just like most people out there. In fact, he’s probably the creation of mine I relate to the most.”
If you haven’t read Invincible, then you are missing out, and if Kirkman’s great story telling in Walking Dead is any indication, then Tech Jacket should be a must have.
Tech Jacket, packed with extras, exclusive sketches and introduction by the author hits stores August 15, for $14.99.

On the weekend of May 5th, you have a couple of things keeping you busy; standing in line to watch Spider-Man III, and Free Comic Book Day. I hope you don’t think this makes for a busy weekend for you, because Robert Kirkman has you beat by a mile – actually several thousand miles.
Over that weekend, Kirkman will be making a 72 hour non-stop 5-city tour across the United States to promote his new series, The Astounding Wolf-Man. It starts in New York, then moves to Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles and finally the Bay area of San Francisco.
THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN chronicles the life of workaholic CEO Gary Hampton. While on a rare family vacation, he’s bitten by a werewolf. Cursed to live his nights as a monster, Gary works to use these evil powers for the greater good. The story is part superhero, part horror and a whole lot of fun.
