For the past year, SPAWN: ENDGAME has riveted readers with its game-changing story line featuring the death of Al Simmons and Todd McFarlane’s return to illustrating his seminal creation. In November’s SPAWN #196, ENDGAME concludes with a bang as McFarlane shares art duties with fellow Image Comics founder Rob Liefeld.

Rob Liefeld got all Twittery last night, spreading news and information about upcoming movie projects which may or may not feature Cable.
“Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Schuler Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!”
“Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!”
“Deadpool movie- YES! Ryan Reynolds\ is on board!!!”
“Also excited to discuss possibilities of Cable in future X-films!!!”
Yeah, Cable in the next X-franchise film should be interesting, although I’m more interested in seeing X-Men: First Class first.
Press Release

Rob Liefeld’s return to YOUNGBLOOD with President Barack Obama exploded with a nearly instantaneous sell-out despite a very significant over print.
“WOW! It’s very exciting and a great honor to come back and the result be an instant sell out for the book! I’d also like to thank President Obama for picking such a great new line up for YOUNGBLOOD, obviously he has the magic touch,” said Liefeld. “That said, YOUNGBLOOD #8 is just the prelude to a much larger story. If you liked it, you’re going to be blown away by the next issue in May. Given YOUNGBLOOD’s status as a government sanctioned superteam, you can bet on our nation’s newest President being involved from the very beginning!”
The YOUNGBLOOD appearance by President Obama marks the very beginning of Liefeld’s return to his seminal creation. Starting in May, Rob will return to the book in full force, full time as he takes over the writing and illustrating duties to present a whole new direction for the team. This news comes on the heels of mega-director Brett Ratner (X-MEN 3, RUSH HOUR) announcing he’ll be taking the reins of the upcoming YOUNGBLOOD feature film.
YOUNGBLOOD #8 2nd Printing, a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores March 11th, 2009.

Wow. Never thought I’d see the day where I’d be writing that headline, but it appears to be true as Variety is reporting Brett Ratner and Reliance big Entertainment joining to turn Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood series into a motion picture.
Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and ‘Youngblood’ is one of the few comicbooks left with tentpole potential,” Ratner told Daily Variety. “It was a real personal passion project for me, and a lot of people wanted (‘Youngblood’), but the amazing thing about the guys at Reliance is the speed with which they’re able to move.”
Really? The great graphic novels are gone, and Youngblood is the only thing left? Wow. H’Wood must have really pillaged the comic industry over the last year. I really need to get my Zombie/Kung-Fu/Western out the door so I can make a billion bucks.

If you thought guest appearances by President Barack Obama in comics were done, guess again. Image Comics is getting into the act again as the President makes his first superhero-related initiative in Youngblood #8, written and illustrated by Rob Liefeld.
“Obama re-instating the YOUNGBLOOD program with his picks is a natural, with SAVAGE DRAGON having featured Obama already,” Liefeld told Comic Book Resources. “And with YOUNGBLOOD having featured George H. Bush in its past as well as a Saddam Hussein styled guy and YOUNGBLOOD featured alongside Dan Quayle in WILDC.A.Ts and Bill Clinton in SUPREME, Image has a long history of involving presidential figures!”
The six-page back up story has President Obama selecting the next line-up of Youngblood.
Will we see lines around the block when this issue arrives in February?

Youngblood is set to return to Image Comics in January 2008. The series will feature new characters and old, some you’ve seen, and one you haven’t.
“YOUNGBLOOD is the book which launched the Image invasion and eventually spawned THE ULTIMATES and AUTHORITY,” said writer Joe Casey. “It’s only right it’s back at home and I’m extremely thrilled Rob has entrusted his creations to series artist Derek Donovan and me. Derec and I are bringing back everything fans loved about the series, but in a whole new style set for the fans of today.”
