Reaper is a great show. A really great show. If you aren’t watching Reaper, you’re missing out on the next best thing to a series that is turning into the next Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There are obviously a lot of people not watching the show, as the CW series continues to go into the toilet. This would certainly spell the end of the series, had ABC Studios not thought otherwise.
Sources said show producer ABC Studios is in talks with CW affiliate stations about continuing “Reaper” as a syndicated series for Sunday night.
So when the network recently decided to give Sunday night back to its affiliates, they started preliminary conversations with ABC Studios about possibly continuing the show with original episodes.
Sources said that ABC Studios also is exploring a possible afterlife for the cult series on cable.
Both of these options are long shots. While show star and hottie Missy Peregrym are both available should the show return, Tyler Labine, who plays Sock, is already signed for a new comedy on Fox for next year.
While I would love the series to continue to infinity and beyond, I think the writing is on the wall. Oh well, at least we’ll have the good memories and the reruns on my TiVo.
One of my favorite television series of last year, Reaper, is set to make its return on March 3, 2009 on The CW.
Good news for Reaper fans, the CW has announced it is bringing back the show early for the spring season.
The move puts “Reaper” at 8 p.m. Tuesdays followed by “90210,” a shake-up that protects the teen soap from Fox’s “American Idol.” “Reaper” will still air its 13 episodes straight, through without repeats as originally planned.
I like the idea of airing all the episodes in a row without a rerun, but still find myself confused as to why Reaper keeps getting a mid-season slot instead of a full year. Last year it was one of the best shows on television, and one of the best shows on The CW, right behind Smallville.
Plus it has that incredibly hot Missy Peregrym.

It went down to the wire, but the supernatural drama Reaper got its renewal notice yesterday during the CBS upfront presentation.
The more I watch this series, the better it becomes, and I will say Reaper is on its way to becoming the male-centric version of Buffy by the time next season is over. Smart dialog, good acting, great special effects, just the right amount of humor, make this my must watch show of the week.
Reaper will return for 13 episodes during the mid-season next year, more than likely appearing on Thursday night opposite Supernatural.
