McKeever off Birds of Prey

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

bop117md.jpgSean McKeever announced on his website Sunday that he was leaving DC’s Birds of Prey with issue #117, due out in April.

I was offered both Teen Titans and Birds of Prey at the same time. It became clear that I was going to be a bit behind on Teen Titans from the outset, and I unfortunately took longer to get up to speed than I would have liked. Because of this, I kept putting off Birds of Prey, where my debut was set for the end of the year. The thing is, I generally pride myself by being timely with my work, so the lateness on Teen Titans was stressing me out. The stress bred more lateness, which in turn bred more stress…and by late fall I was behind schedule on both series.

Due to these circumstances, I’ve had to leave Birds of Prey. My last issue will be April’s #117. I miss the characters already, especially considering the long-term plans I had for the title, but I’m pretty proud of the five issues I did write.

Beware the Great Disaster!

Here we go, a week full of revelations and answers to all your questions! Wait…what? This is only week 37? Damn. That means it’s another issue full of twists and turns, as our group of heroes trip through the DC Universe on the way to The End. This week a couple of stories get a much needed kick in the pants, while others get us nowhere fast. Does that mean Countdown #37 is a bad issue? Not at all.

The Batman Cast Expands

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006--by Stephen Schleicher

Those crazy kids over at the Legions of Gotham Forum have posted some images for the next season of The Batman series currently running on Kids WB. But be prepared for a major shock. Remember The Batman series is supposed to chronicle the early years of Batman and the origins (albeit skewed) of the bat rogue gallery. We already have a Batgirl and a Robin showing up in the series, but season three will have Nightwing and Oracle! If that isn’t bad enough, Black Mask, Harley Quinn, and a new character, voiced by Brandon Routh, Everywhere Man. Got your continutity panties in a bunch yet? If you thought the series sucked before, it looks like the show is trying bring back the Batman:TAS characters. Does the suck meter go to 11?
