The Hollywood Reporter has Wesley Strick signed on to write the update to the Freddy Kruger franchise.

The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone. The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original.

Strick has previously penned Arachnophobia and Cape Fear.

Really? DC Comics has announced issues #2 and #3 have sold out and will be heading back to the printer for a second run.

ASH,” says cowriter Jeff Katz. “Obviously, I always believed in the commercial and creative potential of this match-up, but to see it received with such intense enthusiasm has made for one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I feel like a proud father, and I’m incredibly happy for James, Jason and Thomas because I know this project means as much to them as it does to me. DC, Wildstorm and Dynamite have done a tremendous job with this book and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we appreciate the support — and the best is truly yet to come.”

The second printing of the issues will arrive February 13, 2008.
