Or – “Of Course I’m Serious. And Don’t Call Me Shirley.”

Oh say can you see…
By the dawn’s early light!
What so proudly we hail…
In the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose bright stripes and broad stars,
In the perilous night…
For the ramparts we watched,
uh, da-da-da-da-da-daaaa…
And the rocket’s red glare!
Buncha bombs in the air!
Gave proof to the night!
That we still had our flag!
Oh say does that flag banner wave,
Over a-a-all that’s free!
And the home of the land…
And the land of the – FREE!

Press Release

Combined into one, double-sized colossal issue, Nexus 101 and 102 will together bring our series “Soap Opera” to its final conclusion. Publisher Steve Rude says, “Considering the inordinate expanse of time that has passed since the release of our last issue, fans expectations will be singularly high. Let’s see if Baron and Rude can deliver the final goods.”
Both issues are done through color so the release is on schedule and on time!!

This past weekend, Steve Rude sent out an update on the status of his Nexus series.
Nexus 101 is completed and Nexus 102 is awaiting a final script. Pencils are completed. Once the inks are completed the book will go into solicitation. At this point we anticipate being able to give all the solicitation information to Diamond in January which would be for March Previews and a May release date.
It’s been forever since we read and reviewed Nexus 100, and now May can’t come fast enough.

If you’ve been waiting for the 100 issue of Nexus, you’ll have to wait a little while later.
Everything that could possibly go wrong with the production and publication of the long awaited Nexus 100 has. We announced 2 weeks ago that the print run was unacceptable and the printer, was reprinting the run.
The 56-page Nexus 100 should now arrive in stores on February 27, 2008.

Rude Dude Productions has announced Nexus 100 will be delayed. Instead of the original release date, Nexus 100 will arrive in January. The company says it is delaying the issue so it can ship three issues in a row without delay. It doesn’t say what happens in March when the three issues have shipped.
To refresh your memories, in addition to the 23-page main story feature, Nexus 100 contains the first fully-painted Steve Rude art ever done for a comic story. “When She was Young,” Part II, an eleven-page Sundra Peale story that takes place at the beginning of Sundra’s career and reveals her first meeting with a notorious and very treacherous—ah, long time fans will probably guess—but for now just keep it under your hats. Baron and Rude consider this painted story a landmark achievement in itself. All their usual writing and art trademarks abound!

Or – “Further Proof That Tom Grice Is WRONG, Sir! WRONG!”

Welcome to Bruce Otter Friday, the day where we do everything we can to steal away the disposable income of former comic fan, Bruce Otter! I’ve always said that no one’s opinion can really be incorrect, as opinion is merely the statement of the facts as you’ve experienced them. “I think that Actress X is attractive” is an opinion, with the only truly valid counter-statement being “I think Actress X is NOT attractive.” A common problem comes when people mistake the statement “I think Actress X is not attractive” as interchangable with the statement “Actress X is not attractive.” This is most emphatically NOT the case. So when Tommy started needling me about his belief that Nexus “sucks,” I had to take it with a grain of salt. Whatever issues of Nexus he may have read obviously didn’t work for him. Luckily, we all know the aphorism regarding Tommy’s veracity, but what evidence exists to support MY opinion?

Steve Rude over at Rude Due Productions let us know that fans who missed out on the sold out Free Comic Book Day Nexus “Greatest Hits” issue, can order it in the latest Previews.
The reprint is offered for a mere $1.99.
And be on the lookout for Nexus: Space Opera, Act 1, due July 8th. I have an advanced copy, so look for the review here soon!
Hey Nexus fans! Steve Rude sent us an email to let us know he has a huge art sale going on right now with prices much lower than what you would expect from such a well known artist. This is all part of the effort to keep Rude Dude studios afloat until August.
“We only have to make it until San Diego, “ said Steve’s wife, Jaynelle Rude. “Then the income from the books will start coming in, so this offer will definitely not last. If you have anything that you’ve had your eye on, now is definitely the time to make an offer on it. We’re willing to consider all reasonable offers.”

Steve Rude let us know that his new book “Draw Nexus Tips and Techniques” is now available for pre-sale on his website. The book is filled with tips on figure construction, figure drawing, as well as how to draw heads and interiors. Also included in the 100 page book are model sheets on the entire cast. If you are a Nexus or Rude fan, the model sheets alone are worth the $24.95 price tag.
Steve Rude announced today the formation of Rude Dude Productions, LLC. Rude Dude will publish Nexus and the Moth. The ground-breaking, award-winning Nexus first appeared on Capital Comics in 1981. The story of a cosmic avenger driven by dreams of mass murder captured the imagination of the comic-reading public throughout the eighties. Dark Horse recently released hard-bound volumes of the first twenty-four issues in their prestigious “Archives” editions. Mike Baron will script, Steve Rude will draw and Gary Martin will ink.
