Could it be? Did the crew of the Major Spoilers Podcast actually find an awesome theme song for the show? A rough draft of the song arrived in the Major Spoilers Inbox last night, and we’re liking it a lot. Is it the winner? Could be, but we’re still leaving the gate open until November 27, 2008.
You still have time to compose and send in your entry for the Major Spoilers Theme Song Contest and win a copy of the new Watchmen Absolute Edition when it is released next month.
Y: The Last Man has nabbed the writing directing team of D.J. Caruso and Carl Ellsworth – the same team behind Disturbia, the Rear Window remake.
Caruso will be developing and directing, while Ellsworth is penning the script. J.C. Spink, Chris Bender, and David Goyer are producing.
The comic, created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, centers on Yorick, an escape artist who is the last survivor of a mysterious plague that has killed every single male mammal in the world. With his male pet monkey, he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes.
I wasn’t a big fan of Disturbia, even though it did make four times its cost, so I am a little hesitant on this film – even with Goyer on board. Ellsworth does give me some hope as he has written episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
No word on release date.
When Warner Bros. dropped the ball and lost the rights to the Conan film franchise, New Line stepped up to score the rights to Robert E. Howard’s creation.
After posting a bid of mid-six against seven figures for an 18-month option with one extension, the studio entered into negotiations after CAA staged an auction for rights holder Paradox Entertainment. The property drew the interest of several studios and monied producers including Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari and Millennium Films.
Warner had been developing the movie for some time with everyone from the Wachowski’s to Robert Rodriquez making the adaptation.
Even though there have been at least three Conan films produced (Conan, Conan the Destroyer, and Red Sonja) none have come close to the spirit of the original Howard novels. Warner was working on this when its option deadline expired.
