We figured we could squeeze one more video onto the site today with this HD trailer for the upcoming Clash of the Titans movie.
Wait. Where’s Bubo?
It’s a day for video on the Good Ol’ Major Spoilers, and we’re adding another to the list with the trailer for Kick-Ass. The music and fast editing pushes the movie higher on my must see list, but I wonder how all the graphic violence is going to play out?

With Mark Harmon as Superman, and William Baldwin as Batman, this could be a really interesting movie.

Monsters, Inc. just so happens to arrive on Blu-Ray today!
Fans of the World War II hero Sgt. Rock, may want to divert your eyes now. DC Comics, Joel Silver, Francis Lawrence and Chad St. John are taking the story and moving it into the future.
“Inglourious Basterds” notwithstanding, period war movies have not been in vogue in Hollywood for years, unless it was a more serious contemplation of the subject like “Saving Private Ryan.” Also, American jingoism went out of style after 9/11; even this summer’s G.I. Joe movie dropped the toy’s “A Real American Hero” tagline and made the action team internationally focused.
There’s some good reasoning behind moving the story to “the future”, although there’s no word if that future is modern day, or the future future, where our Robot Overlords have risen up to enslave humanity.
Through my many years of watching films, I have come discovered that some movies are synonymous certain genres. When you think “Mob movie,” The Godfather usually comes to mind. If the term “Science Fiction” or “Space Opera” is mentioned, one might have visions of light-sabers or Vulcans run through their head. And when someone says “Horror-Comedy,” the first film though of is The Toxic Avenger. Ahh yes, The Toxic Avenger. Not only is this film extremely entertaining, it is a pinnacle of independent film making and single-handedly shaped the direction of an entire movie studio, as well as influenced countless films. But we’ll address that after the jump. So douse yourself with some toxic waste and follow me!
This week, Disney/Pixar’s UP! arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film is directed by Pete Doctor, and we had a moment to share this Q&A with you.
IGN has posted the character posters for the upcoming Mark Millar Kick-Ass movie, and they look pretty… well, Kick-Ass!
Dave Lizewski doesn’t have superpowers, isn’t particularly strong or smart, and isn’t extraordinary in any way… aside from his desire to be a hero. Donning a scuba suit, a ski mask, and a pair of clubs, Dave hits the underworld hard in his new persona of Kick-Ass. Though not as hard — at first anyway — as they hit him when he’s severely beaten and hospitalized as a result of his first street fight. No one said being a hero was going to be easy…
When all four of the posters are joined together, they do indeed spell out Kick-Ass, which should be interesting to see on the wall in the more conservative areas of the country. What am I saying, this movie probably won’t be picked up by those theater chains at all.
The movie is scheduled to open April 16, 2010.
The Wall Street Journal has a good article outlining H’wood’s big drive to turn popular toy properties into movies.
The craze for toy-driven feature films has given rise to a new term in the Hollywood lexicon. In production meetings, studio executives have begun asking if a particular project is “toyetic” — meaning whether its concept can lend itself to a toy, and whether the project will be able to sell tickets and merchandise.
Toward the end of the article, the next big toy to movie announcement is made. Hasbro recently acquired the rights to the Micronauts, and is looking at J.J. Abrams to produce the movie adaptation.

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justine Timberlake are the latest members to join the Yogi Bear cast in the live-action/CGI movie from Warner Bros. Faris will play a documentary filmmaker, while Aykroyd is in talks to play the voice of the famous bear. Where does that leave Timberlake? Yup. He’s up for the voice of Boo-Boo.
Yogi’s character, inspired by Art Carney’s portrayal of Ed Norton on “The Honeymooners,” first appeared in Hanna-Barbera cartoons in 1958 and was voiced by Daws Butler.
The movie is expected to start shooing in New Zealand in December.

As the Blu-Ray and DVD release of Disney/Pixar’s UP! approaches, here are 24 fun facts you may not have known about the production of the animated film.
…with the trailer to a most awesome movie!
I do not remember this trailer at all, but good to see many others are picking up on the November 5, 1955 meme, sweeping the Intardwebz today.
Of all the upcoming films for the holiday season, this is the one I’m looking forward to the most.
I know more than one person will be lining up for the movie adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Disney just released the trailer, and it doesn’t look half bad.
