Megacon sent us a rundown of the comic book artists, media guests, and contests going on at this year’s Megacon in Orlando, Florida this March.
The Orlando MegaCon, the largest comic book multi media event in the Southeast is pleased to make its initial announcement of guests for its 2010 convention. MegaCon will take place March 12th – 14th, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

If you happen to be going to one of the two comic book conventions happening this week, you’ll be able to see an Archie Comics presense at both.
Bill Galvan, artist for Archie Comics, will be at WonderCon sitting on the Secret Origin of Good Readers panel.
12:30-2:00 The Secret Origin of Good Readers
Making its fifth annual appearance at WonderCon, this year’s Secret Origin of Good Readers panel features Dr. Robyn A. Hill (National University, San Diego), Mimi Cruz (Night Flight Comics, Salt Lake City), Bill Galvan (co-creator/artist of The Scrapyard Detectives, artist for Archie Comics), plus additional speakers to be added. The panelists will discuss how teachers, librarians, retailers, and publishers can work together to bring comic books into the classroom for use as an innovative and motivating cross-curricular teaching tool and a vehicle for promoting reading and literacy.Though a multimedia presentation, personal remarks, and a question-and-answer session, the speakers will present an overview of the medium and highlight specific ways that comic books and graphic novels have been used to engage a variety of learners. MegaCon – The biggest and best Comic Book, Sci-Fi and Anime convention on the East Coast will be held on February 27th, 28th and March 1st in Hall D at the Orlando Convention Center for MegaCon 2009.

It’s still several months away, but The Orlando MegaCon has released its initial list of guests for the 2009 convention.
Legendary artist George Pérez will be the Special Guest of Honor at MegaCon 2009. In a 30+ year career in comics, George has illustrated Avengers, Fantastic Four, JLA, Wonder Woman, and a host of other seminal comics titles. He is hard at work on his next project from DC Comics, Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds. This will be George’s first scheduled convention appearance in over a year, as he took 2008 off the convention circuit.

Major Spoilers reader Matthew Tyndall took a trip down to Orlando this past weekend to hang with the likes of Wonder Woman, Storm Troopers, and Marvel’s Joe Q. Along the way he met some well knowns, some not so well knowns and took a a bunch of pictures to share with other Major Spoilers followers.
