Mattel is showing off the battle damaged He-Man variant, that allows players to change the chest plate to reflect any damage the protector of Eternia may suffer.
This toy does not feature a spinning tumble, but does include all three chest plates – standard, one smash, and my personal favorite, two smashes!
He also comes with his heroic Battle Axe just like in the famous painting of Battle Armor He-Man on top of Battle Cat. (anyone have the art book?)
Battle Armor He-Man goes on sale January 15, only at the MattCollector.com website.
In addition to showing off the Wave 12 series of DC Universe characters, Mattel also unveiled the variant figures for the series.
Mattel has unveiled a few new shots of the chase variant Deadman action figure from the DC Universe Classics wave 11 collection. The ghostly figure of Boston Brand has semi-transparent hands and feet that glow in the dark. If you’re going to scare the crap out of your young one, this figure just might do the trick.
Take the jump for the unpackaged figure!

It’s bad enough H’wood is actually making View-Master the movie, now Mattel’s most famous toy, Barbie is getting a feature, too. Universal Pictures won the rights to the live action treatment, with Laurence Mark, of Jerry Maguire fame, producing the flick.
Meanwhile, on Eternia…
He-Man got some sad news a couple of weeks ago, when Warner Bros. and Mattel parted ways, but the big galoot has stumbled his way into a new home at Columbia. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on which side of the paycheck your are sitting on, all of the previously prepared content has been scrapped. This means the script and all the pre-production will need to be rebuilt from the ground up, so hopefully Columbia knows what it is doing.

Those who were hoping for a better retelling of Mattel’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise in film form are going to have to wait a little longer now that Warner Bros. and Mattel have called it quits in regards to the character.
Mattel and WB didn’t see eye to eye over the direction of the project and made a mutual decision to let the option lapse this month. Story revolves around He-Man, a prince who becomes a warrior battling the evil Skeletor for control of his magical homeland.
Mattel will more than likely shop the property around, and Disney, who recently purchased Marvel, might be ready to strike. It’s a shame Warner Bros. decided to drop the property, because with Mattel’s already close relationship with the House of Mouse, it would be another punch in the gut to the WB if Disney cranked out a hit as the mega-corporation continues to roll on.

We’re dumping a lot of DC Universe action figure news on you today – we probably would have been able to space them apart if Mattel would actually send us an email once in a while (hint, hint). Anyway, according to the Matty Collector Facebook page, the latest wave of Crisis figures goes on sale today (August 17, 2009) that feature Barry Allen, the Psycho Pirate, Monitor, and Supergirl ready for her closeup.

The Mattel DCU Classics line has drained by wallet over the last couple of years, and for good reason – these figures have great articulation, and the desire to end up with a build a figure is pretty appealing too. Unfortunately, Mattel has also released a line of figures that don’t contain the Collect-and-Connect figures, and that may cause confusion among toy fans.
Wave 10 of the DCU Classics line has been introduced that features another Batman figure (the first one appeared in the original C-n-C assortment), but the good thing is, you don’t have to get the Batman figure if you don’t want to as it only contains the stand for the Collect and Connect Imperiex figure.
Take the jump for a look at all the figures. My bet is Powergirl is going to be a hot item.
There are a couple more Mattel/DC Comics action figure line items hitting the site today, and next up is the Doom Patrol getting the Justice League Unlimited treatment.
The team goes on sale November 16, 2009. Take the jump for a look at each of the figures.
Mattel continues the Justice League Unlimited line with the latest addition to the growing figure collection with the Shazam Family 4-pack.
Mattel has unveiled the packaging for the San Diego Comic-Con Wonder Twin set, and it’s really cool. Light up action, voices, and the works.
Following last week’s Asteroids movie announcement, The Hollywood Reporter is either messing with our heads in an elaborate practical joke, or Hollywood has finally reached the bottom of the barrel. Deamworks has acquired the film rights to the View-Master toy from Mattel and is asking the writers behind the new Transformers movie to pen the script.
Story specifics are being kept under wraps, though Kane, who tweeted his involvement during the holiday weekend, said, “It’ll be like the old ’80s Amblin movies: ‘Goonies,’ ‘Young Sherlock’ … in that vein.” That post has been taken down. Amblin-style movies has been the modus operandi of the Kurtzman-Orci banner.
Can I get a collective W. T. F. ?
Seriously, Hollywood, if you are really this desperate for a new movie idea, please contact me about my Kung-Fu Zombie Western. I work cheap, and the worst that will happen is some website that no one cares about will utter a collective WTF? when they read the reports you dropped $5 million on my concept and story idea.
I’m pretty sure we’ve run the images from Mattel’s DC Universe Collection wave 9 before, but we’re running them again, simply because I find the Chemo collect and connect figure so fascinating. I’ve had a devil of a time with the entire collect and connect series, as I don’t think I’ve been able to complete a single figure – THANKS TARGET!
I’m going to have to go eBay diving over the next couple of weeks to find all the back issue figures and parts, because I have completionism OCD, and also because these are pretty awesome figures.

Mattel has two panels at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and are offering up a bunch of exclusives to boot. If you can’t go to the sold out show to pick up these exclusives, rest assured you can find them on eBay for a very jacked up price after the show.

Mattel dropped off a couple of new action figure images featuring a Blue Wildcat variant, the packaging for the upcoming JLU SDCC Green Lantern exclusives, and the packaging for the Anti-Monitor that the rest of us who aren’t going to get the giant figure can expect to see in stores.

No, that’s not some eye chart test, but rather a reminder that the Justice League Unlimited Legion of Super-Heroes 4-pack will be on sale May 15, 2009 up on the Matty Collector website. Interestingly, my summer officially starts on May 15, which means I’ll be getting my summer started right with these figures.
