Do we really need another zombie tale set in the Marvel Universe? According to Fred Van Lente, the answer is yes. In the next installment, one of the zombies escapes from zombie world and stumbles into Marvel 616 territory, thus making Marvel Zombies an in continuity title.
“Marvel Zombies 3” will focus on a different group of zombies than Kirkman and Phillips’ books. “This is partly because ‘MZ3’ is set in a very specific period of ‘MZ’ continuity,” Van Lente explained. “For fear of giving away too much, I’m going to tell you when, exactly. But let’s just say the pursuit of sweet, sweet human flesh makes for some odd allies.”
The four issue mini-series will debut in October. I don’t know about you, but the zombie genre has overstayed its welcome.

Zombies 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Several years ago I had a freak out, and stopped eating meat, stopped with the caffeine, and processed sugars. There are a couple of good things about avoiding those things. First there’s that whole healthier living thing, and second, I got to eat all the veggie pizza, been burritos, and tofurkey sandwiches that I wanted (really tofurkey isn’t as bad as it sounds). The toughest part about my sudden conversion to semi-vegetarianism (I still ate eggs and cheese), was the first two weeks. Every Big Mac commercial, every KFC ad, even the smell of steak was enough to nearly drive me out of my mind. Then after that passed, all was right with the world. My head cleared, I had more energy, and I lost a ton of weight. After a while, that Quarter Pounder with Cheese ad did nothing for me, it even made me a little disgusted (like that is anything new). What’s this have to do with Marvel Zombies 2 #1? Well, what is a zombie to do when it’s eaten all the flesh in the universe?

I’ve taken a peek at the full issue of the Last Fantastic Four Story, and it isn’t half bad in a Stan Lee sort of way. It’s an interesting tale that doesn’t end like you might expect it.

Diamond Select Toys has announced a brand new six-inch bust of Zombie Spider-Man. It’s not a full body sculpt, but rather just the top half of the undead wall crawler that is sure to give the kiddies nightmares. This is one gruesome looking statue for fans of the Marvel Zombies series.
Sculpted by Rudy Garcia and limited to only 600 pieces, this six-inch bust will be available exclusively through Wizard Entertainments Toyfare magazine. Each bust will also feature a hand-numbered base with matching box and Certificate of Authenticity.
Well, looks like I won’t be getting this one, as it will probably be snatched up as soon as it is made available.

Or - “How To Escape Certain Death With Style & Grace (And A Chainsaw Hand.)”

The problem with prequels is as simple as it is obvious. As soon as this series began, we knew where it was going to end, with Palpantine taking over as Emperor. We knew that the plague would take over the entire world, we knew that no one would survive, so we needed a charismatic lead and a good story to carry it. Ash Williams fits the first bill, and his desperate travels through this Marvel Universe have ably (and entertainingly) provided the second. Now, with the end of the zombie apocalypse upon us, the most pertinent question is “How will Ash survive?” As with every M.Z. story, there are some possibly disturbing images after the tab, so continue at your own risk…

Or - “Latveriaaa… Latveriaaa… You Border On The Adriiiiatic!”

So, after three issues of Ultimate Fantastic Four, the five issue original miniseries, another UFF crossover, four issues of this mini, the ‘Dead Days’ one-shot, the Fantastic Four crossover, and the Dead Days one-shot, have the Marvel Zombies finally reached the apex of their coolness? There are only so many ways to say “Everybody dies!” after all, although I prefer the fey, disaffected “You die, she dies, EVVVVerybody dies,” from Heavy Metal, m’self. Is this the issue where the franchise is finally (you should excuse the expression) cannibalized?

Dynamite Entertainment and Marvel Comics have announced veteran Marvel Zombie artists Sean Philips and Fernando Blanco are teaming up with regular series artist Fabiano Neves to complete Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #4 and #5.
In a prepared statement Dynamite said,”Fans are getting the Triple Crown winner of artists with these last two issues of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. Teaming up Sean Phillips and Fernando Blanco with Fabiano Neves for the big climax is like well, it’s like having the Marvel Zombies and Ash in the same series! Sean’s pencils certainly know their way around the brutal world of Marvel Zombies, and AOD fans went crazy for Fernando’s work on the final issues of AOD (and the final days of Ash), so to have them both work on Ash’s afterlife adventures is simply Dynamite’! Of course, regular series artist Fabiano Neves and writer John Layman will continue their incredible work on Earth-2149, keeping Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness the pure brain-craving, chainsaw-slashing action and excitement that it has been from the very beginning.”
Major Spoilers has a sneak peek of issue #4 after the jump!
