Next week on the Major Spoilers Podcast, we’re taking a break from DC trade titles and taking a look at Tag Vol. 1 from Boom! Studio.
Tag Vol. 1 TPB
Writer(s): Keith Giffen Artist(s): Andy Kuhn, Kody Chamberlain
BONUS: Included in TPB form for the first time as an “extra” is Keith Giffen’s “10″ one-shot — ten innocent people become unwilling contestants in a game of death. Given 10 bullets and a gun, it’s kill or be killed as they’re forced to hunt the other 10 contestants! In the dark, horrific tradition of Battle Royale!
Spine-snapping horror in the tradition of the movie The Ring! An average joe strolls down the street after a fight with his girlfriend when a random stranger TAGS him, handing off an ancient curse! He literally begins to die – and rot – seeing his body begin to decompose every day before his very eyes. Cursed, he must either surrender, or find the next victim to TAG… Collecting the three issue mini-series from white-hot Wizard Magazine favorite Keith Giffen and 30 Days of Night Bloodsucker Tales artist Kody Chamberlain!
If you have read the series, post your comments below, and we may use them on show.

In this outing: The Bug is Back! Outer Space Studs Cracking Skulls! Buster Crabbe, where have you gone? Last Chance For Bruce Wayne! First Kills For Frank Castle! Curses, foiled again! Jack Knight is in the house, Patsy Walker in the arctic, and Matthew’s in a a great and furious rage for reasons unrelated, as the Major Spoilers Podcast is now eligible for public office… President Spoilers, anyone?
This episode is sponsored in part by the Mid-Ohio-Con (www.midohiocon.com)
Thanks to Jason for leaving a tip in the Major Spoilers Tip Jar!
Time to take this fight off-world and pit two very different space odysseys against each other. So what will it be ladies and gentlemen; the young and dashing James T. Kirk of Earth, or that roguish fellow from a galaxy far far away, Han Solo?
In addition to all the good stuff coming down the pipe (does good stuff really come down the pipe?), the Major Spoilers crew will be diving into DC’s Starman Omnibus.
The super-heroic legacy of Starman is renewed in these stories, in which Jack Knight — antiques collector and dealer — inherits the name and powers of his father’s old Starman identity from his older brother, who has been assassinated. Reluctantly adjusting to his role, Jack reinvents the look of Starman, ditching the traditional red and green in favor of black leather and aviator goggles. But Jack has inherited more than a heroic identity from his brother . . . he’s also gained a foe: the beautiful but mentally unbalanced Nash, daughter of the villain known as the Mist. Jack also must come to grips with The Shade, the morally ambiguous former villain who decides to become Jack’s mentor.
Post your comments about the first 16 issues here, and you might get your comments read during the Major Spoilers Podcast.

Yes it is time for a shameless plug for the Major Spoilers Podcast. We’re pushing our way to 2,000 downloads per episode, and as soon as we pass that mark on a regular basis, you’ll be seeing even more great things from the Major Spoilers Gang of Idiots.
“It’s always refreshing to come upon a podcast that is done by people who SHOULD be podcasting. These guys do a great job of talking all things comics and pop culture. They’re geeks without being losers. That’s a good thing. Keep up the great work guys.” -Bighonkin
“These guys have it all down! A professional format, great topics, and opinions that aren’t just lip service. The three person format works great, and the diversity of the speakers make sure that everyone from the neophyte to the seasoned veteran will enjoy it! I highly recommend this podcat for anyone who wants a REAL opinion about comics, not just the same old company lines you get from some podcasts.” - Lost Hours
This is a great podcast. I was turned onto this podcast by another and was pleasantly surprised. Stephen, Matthew, and Rodrigo are great together. Their reviews of comic books are great and very detailed. Just listen once and you will be back every week.” - Morpheus11
On this week’s Major Spoilers Podcast (recording tonight): Rodrigo’s out of town this week, so we’re bringing in a special guest star we haven’t heard from in some time. Who could it be? Download episode 34 and find out.
This time around: The SDCC without SD? DK2, all for you? Thunderbolts are go! The scion of Asgard meets the sons of the plains! The young Dark Knight meets an ancient ritual! And we ask that musical question: Was the Satellite of Love better before the crate of Hamdingers? Plus: can anyone make Matthew give a rat’s hindquarters about Bullseye and Venom? I wouldn’t bet the rent, but you might make a sandwich and settle in, it’s our thirty-third gala escapade.
Last week there was a small Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference in the Major Spoilers Poll. Considering Comic Con International: San Diego just had a get together of all the MST3K people, I thought it was a good time to open this wound once again.
I posted a quick update about the Major Spoilers Dark Knight 2 Limited Edition Contest the other day, allowing contestants to enter as many times as they like, providing there is someone different in each picture. Julian took us up on the new deal and has turned in a few pics from San Diego Comic Con.
I gotta give Julian credit, he had the balls to go up to some well known names, take a photo, and enter the contest.
Who did Julian get his pics taken with? Take the jump to find out, and see who you are up against in the Major Spoilers Dark Knight 2 contest.
On the next Major Spoilers Podcast, the panel will review Batman: The Long Halloween. Interestingly, Matthew will reference the original issues, Stephen the first softcover trade, and Rodrigo the Absolute edition.

Taking place during Batman’s early days of crime fighting, this collection tells the story of a mysterious killer who murders his prey only on holidays. Working with District Attorney Harvey Dent and Lieutenant James Gordon, Batman races against the calendar as he tries to discover who Holiday is before he claims his next victim each month. A mystery that has the reader continually guessing the identity of the killer, this story also ties into the events that transform Harvey Dent into Batman’s deadly enemy, Two-Face.
We want you to be part of the show! Post your comments about the Loeb/Sale series below, and they may be included in the show.
Geez, aside from all the panels, previews, and industry news coming out of the San Diego Comic Con, what else did we miss out on? Surely there are some great photos from the con out there. Want to share yours? Drop em in an e-mail, and send them my way (see contact page for email addy).
There is a method to my madness when it comes to all these fight polls. Just wait and see… just wait and see…
This week’s poll mixes up another set of properties in the same vein as Mole Man vs. Moleman. I bring you the worst character ever created, battling the bottled essence of Nabu - Dr. Fate.

Choose wisely, the “fate” of the Major Spoilers Poll Universe depends on it.
Man What A Day! And it ain’t even over yet. The first half of the My Extra Life Nerdtacular II was a huge success. Everyone in the theater loved the Dark Knight. There were prizes given away, a fountain of glow sticks pouring down on the audience, a chance to meet people from all over North America, and even the Dark Knigh his bad self showed up.
And yes, some of them actually know about Major Spoilers.
So without further adieu, here’s a portion of the photos taken at today’s event.
I’ve got my HD camera with me today, and I plan on capturing a lot of the festivities, we’ll see if I get around to posting that video - I promise I won’t be in it the next time (wink).
Did you attend the Nerdtacular event? Did you see Dark Knight? What are your thoughts.
This time out, we got boys from hell, Riders what are ghosts, Invasions what are secret, Crises what are Final, the scion of Apokalips, we’ll keep off the rain with some Umbrella Academy, a big bag of Comicon goodies, and a little bit of love for you, our faithful Spoilerites. So, dust of the banjo, and clean out the barn, and call me MC Bouncing Boy, ‘cause we about to lay some knowledge on ya… suckaaaaas!!
