Titans #5 Gets Bumped

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008--by Stephen Schleicher

titans5DC Comics has announced that the story originally solicited for Titans #5 is getting a story bump, with a new tale appearing instead.

In this issue, written by Judd Winick, with art by Julian Lopez & Prentis Rollins and a cover by Joe Benitez, Raven’s half-brothers return to claim her and unite Trigon’s bloodline, forcing her to choose which ties are stronger: the family she was born to, or the new family she has made.

The second issue of Titans didn’t do too bad, coming in at #30 in the Top 300 Comics for May.  Did fan reaction to more recent issues cause the change, or did issue #5 get solicited before it was written?

Green Arrow/Black Canary Walking Down the Aisle Again

Monday, October 1st, 2007--by Stephen Schleicher

gabcws.jpgDC Comics has announced the Green Arrow/Black Canary Wedding Special has sold out and is going back to press for a second printing.

“It was a wonderful surprise that all the fans RSVP’ed for the event and apparently enjoyed the pasta bar,” says writer Judd Winick. “I’m thrilled that interest in the Special is so high, I’m wowed that everyone showed up to see the 30-year courtship finally reach its zenith, and most of all that people got to see Amanda Conner strut her stuff. It’s an awesome issue, and we’re all very, very proud. We’re hoping the DIVORCE SPECIAL we’re planning does as well. (I’m kidding, but, y’know, these two lovebirds are trouble.)”

The second printing is scheduled to arrive October 17 with a cover by Ryan Sook.

While they haven’t sold out, DC said The Black Canary Wedding Planner, and JLA Wedding Special are still available for reorder.

Outsiders #41

Thursday, October 12th, 2006--by Matthew Peterson

Or “What Happens When People Stop Being Polite…”

Outsiders1.jpgYeah, I know that’s been played, but I’ve been holding on to that line since 1993 or so, I thnk I deserve a pass. Call it a “pre-existing condition,” like your insurance. This book arrived late for me, which gave me an interesting perspective on it, reading reviews of the work before the work itself. Usually I avoid other people’s opinions until I actually READ the book (mostly so I don’t accidentally steal someone else’s good lines), but this time I noticed a trend: people aren’t complaining about The Outsiders, people are unhappy with Judd Winick…
