If you are a fan of the Major Spoilers Podcast, you know I’ve raved about how great the Dr. Horrible Sing-Along-Blog series was went it launched way back when.  Some of you also know, I’ve fallen in love with learning to play the Ukulele.  So imagine how tickled I was to find the Ukulele version of My Freeze Ray done up nicely.

Stories of production problems have been plaguing Joss Whedon’s new Dollhouse series, to the point many were wondering if the show would ever see the light of day on Fox.  Not only will it air, Fox has set the date for January, and has released a trailer to boot.

DOLLHOUSE focuses on a secret organization that employs “Actives” — a group of operatives who have their memories and personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with new ones, allowing them to take on various missions for hire. DOLLHOUSE airs Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) this January on FOX.

Two of the minds behind Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog got a little tipsy and recorded this little documentary – with song!

Funny, I also have a song about tacos and burritos, but my wife won’t let me sing it in public, let alone record it and put it on the site.

I loved Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and apparently so did everyone else, as a sequel is in the works.  With all the things going on in Dr. Horrible’s life, we may not see much of him in the new DVD, but we will see a lot of other characters from the Evil League of Evil.  And that’s where you come in!

The rumblings you’ve been hearing in the criminal underground indeed are true: At long last, we are seeking new applicants to the League.1

Aspirants to new heights of Evil should submit an application video that meets the terms below.

  • It should be no more than three minutes in length.
  • There should be little to no swearing.2
  • Dialogue, logos, and music must be original.3
  • Songs are not required (singing is a bonus).
  • You must be evil — it’s a plus to have a name.
  • Your application video should be posted to YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Email us a link to the video, with your contact information.4
  • October 11 is the last day to submit.

The best applicants, as determined by the League or its designated agents, will be included on a special DVD commemorating our .

Make the bad horse gleeful, or he’ll make you his mare.

  1. Henchmen need not apply. Please contact your union.
  2. Evil can be something of a family affair.
  3. We’re evil, not stupid.
  4. Finalists may be contacted by the League or its agents.

Sounds good to me.   If any Major Spoilers die-hard fans make the cut, let us know.

Okay Whedon haters, you can skip this post as there is nothing you’ll want to read here.

The first installment of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog dropped today (streaming via Hulu), and at first the episode looked to be really lame – Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) reading e-mails on his video blog.  But wait a couple minutes and the music kicks in and becomes a really wonderful little piece full of comedy, romance, and yes, music.

The entire three part series is only going to online this week only, so if you like Whedon, evil villains looking for love, and musicals (who doesn’t love a musical?) then point your browser to Dr. Horrible’s site.

Oh, and that getup Dr. Horrible is wearing is the exact same costume for another superhero action adventure film showing up somewhere in the near future.

Update: Even though this three act musical is said to only be available for one week, and only available at the Dr. Horrible website, you can download all three episodes and keep them for as long as you like via the iTunes Store.

darkhorse.gifI mentioned a couple weeks ago about the big Dark Horse, eBay, and Auction Cause dinner with Joss Whedon that was being auctioned off for SDCC. Today, Dark Horse let Major Spoilers know the event was a huge success bringing in $61,716.

“I’m more or less overwhelmed. The generosity of the bidders—all of them—is greater than I could have expected. Equality Now needs this money for its vital work and I’m thrilled at the amount this event has raised,” said Joss Whedon in a prepared statement. “My grateful thanks to Dark Horse, to MySpace, eBay and Auction Cause—and mad props to the man behind the curtain, Mike Boretz—for making this run so smoothly. And to all the bidders, five of whom are in for a treat—or a least an appetizer.”

The money from the auction will go to the Equality Now charity. This group works with human rights organizations around thw rold to document violence and discrimination against women.

Congrats to the five winners of the auction, and even better, to Equality Now.

With the success of Buffy: Season 8, fans have been wondering if Angel would get a similar treatment. Word out of San Diego is, indeed Angel will have a series that follows the end of the hit television show that ran on the WB.

Angel: After the Fall will be a canoncial series written by Brian Lynch and released by IDW Publishing. You may be familiar with Brian’s work on Spike: Asylum, and if you aren’t, you should be, as this is the title the Joss Whedon read and suggested IDW hire Brian on as Angel’s writer.

Art for the series will be done by Franco Urru who also worked on the Spike series.

The first script is done, and five or six issues have been planned. The series is described by IDW as a 12 issue-plus series.

josswhedon.jpgWell it isn’t really that cut and dried…Dark Horse, Joss Whedon, and eBay have teamed up to offer fans an opportunity to have dinner with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Funds raised from the charity auction will benefit Equality Now, an organization founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. Working with national human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilizes international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses.

Sounds like a great cause, and you Buffy fans might get lucky. The dinner will be open for bidding on July 2 on eBay (ebay.com/josswhedon).

Comic Book Resources received a tip that “Blythe Metz was asked by “interested parties” at the studio to create a short clip showcasing her martial arts abilities.” A link to this MySpace page revealed a slew of photos used to promote the actress in consideration for the role.

wonderwoman3.jpg

The costume is obviously a temporary one, and while Blythe kind of looks the part, I’m not totally convinced she’s right. The fight scene movie on the page looks okay, but nothing spectacular. On the other hand, J-Lo was once in consideration waaaay back in 2001. This movie is taking forever to get off the ground, and until they find someone perfect for the part, they need to keep looking.

What do you think?
