The Joker goes to jail, and nothing will ever be the same…AGAIN!
In what appears to be tale inspired by or related to the Dark Knight movie, the latest issue of Batman Confidential shows what happened the first time Batman captured the Clown Prince of Crime and tossed him in the slammer.
I’m not going to Russell the punchline in this very strange and very funny Batman and Joker fan PSA.
I’m sure the folks at Warner Bros. and DC are just cringing in their seats right now. That’s nothing compared to the other vids, which we’ll run over the next couple of weeks for your enjoyment.
It’s really too bad that I haven’t had the time to write a review for each of the Joker’s Asylum issues as they came out, but now that I’m getting back into the groove, I might as well follow up yesterday’s review of Joker’s Asylum: Scarecrow (released last week), with a review of this week’s concluding issue in the series; Joker’s Asylum: Two-Face.
DC Direct has announced a new production run of the 1:6 scale deluxe Joker collector figure. The figure has been sold out for a while, and with the success of the Dark Knight movie, the company is trying to meet demand.
THE DARK KNIGHT: THE JOKER 1:6 SCALE DELUXE COLLECTOR FIGURE features an intricate fabric costume consisting of a shirt, tie, vest, blazer, pants, overcoat and loafers, with movie-specific accessories including three knives, a handgun with removable clip, a bank robbery mask, three sets of hands, as well as a display stand.
The new figure will be in stores September 10 for $89.95.
One of the best things about one-shots is just that; a story done in one that stands up on its own merits. If the story is great, then the issue will live on, if it tanks, well, thank goodness it was only one issue.
DC’s Joker’s Asylum mixes the best of the one-shot, with the best of the mini-series to create great Hitchcock-Night-Gallery-esque tales that stand on their own legs, but don’t necessarily need to all be read. In the case of Joker’s Asylum: Scarecrow, it would fall into the category of a good read.
I think everyone saw this coming after the spectacular opening night the Dark Knight had in theaters. It’s official now, The Dark Knight has officially pwned Spider-Man in the box office, taking in an estimated $155.3 million over the weekend. Even at two hours and forty-one minutes, the Dark Knight was able to best the third installment of the wall crawler series by $4 million.
“This is a career-capper for anybody who works on a film like this in our business,” Warners distribution president Dan Fellman said. “It’s a great ride, and it’s just beginning, Most of the big summer films have already come out, so we have a great play time ahead of us.”
Is the Dark Knight perfect? No, there are plenty of flaws that can be pointed out. Is it fun and entertaining? Oh yes. If you haven’t given Warner Bros. your $10 yet, you really ought to catch this movie in the theater. It is big, it is loud, and it is a thrill ride you won’t get sitting at home watching it on your 65-inch plasma. As we have seen this summer, and in fact all year, movies tend to have a major drop off going into the second weekend. I would be surprised if Dark Knight had and more than a 20% drop at the box office, and wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers rose a little bit given the numerous showings, fan hype, and the awesome performance by Heath Ledger.
A Countdown tie-in issue that is actually worth it
If you’ve read my other reviews of Countdown, you know my general complaint with the myriad of tie-in issues is the release schedule is so screwed up some issues arrive before the events in Countdown happen, or they are so delayed that it isn’t even worth picking up to see what happens. Fortunately, this isn’t the case with The Search for Ray Palmer: Crime Society. The issue came out a week after the introduction of Earth-3’s evil version of the JSA, and the Jokester, a perfect follow up to the answer the question, “Just who is this Jokester fellow, and why is he suddenly joining up with the Challengers from Beyond?”
Well dear reader, your questions are about to be answered.
Man, I hate it when really clean and clear images are posted throughout the Interwebs and suddenly they have to be taken down because they aren’t authorized. If 20 or so photos have already been leaked online and nearly every (and I mean every) website is linking to them, then what’s the big deal? But to avoid the dreaded C&D letter, I’m taking down the photos. You can probably still find them out there somewhere, just not here. I know, I know…what a bummer.
Kung Fu Rodeo has a slew of photos from the Dark Knight movie. Take the jump for a few of them, then head over to the Kung Fu Rodeo site before their all gone.
