Is Danny Rand the Immortal Iron Fist, or is he close to passing the torch to someone else? The next arc of the series kicks of in Immortal Iron Fist #17, and Marvel has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek.
Or – “Comics Move Pretty Fast. If Ya Don’t Slow Down Once In A While, You Could Miss ‘Em.“

So, how YOU doin? When I joined the intrepid staff here at Stately Spoilers Manor, I was a carefree young lad, temping at a dog food company and literally finding myself with hours at work to stare into space. Ahh, those were the heady days of cafeteria food and three-a-day reviews. Now that I have a *real* job, my first in several years, I’m horrified to find that I have to spend 8 or 9 hours per day ACTUALLY WORKING. Uncool, to say the least. But, the faithful Spoilerites continue to call their siren call, and the review pile continues to expand like the waistline of an Atlantic City call girl (those all-you-can-eat buffets can really add up.) Thus, I bring you another episode of… RAPID FIRE REVIEWS!
Or – “Round Seven! FIGHT!!!!”

It’s all been building up to this…Â
The Prince of Orphans! The Daughters of The Dragon! Lei Kung’s Secret Army! Dog Brother #1! The Tiger’s Beautiful Daughter! The Hordes of Hydra! The Bride of Nine Spiders! Luke “Sweet Christmas!” Cage! Fat Cobra! And that Iron Fist kid…
Know this, dear friends:Â Heads will be BUSTED.
Or – “The Continuing Adventures Of The Golden Age Iron Fist…”

The invention of Orson Randall is one of the truly inspired portions of the new Immortal Iron Fist series (a book not lacking in inspiration and innovation.) Marvel has long intimated that there have been other Iron Fists in history, but Fraction and Brubaker are the first ones to personify those previous wielders of the power of Shou Lao the Undying. By taking a smattering of Doc Savage, a bit of Indiana Jones, and a healthy dose of booze, they’ve given us a character both new and familiar, and his stories are unlike anything else Marvel has to offer…

If you haven’t been reading Immortal Iron Fist, you are missing out on a great series, especially with the revelations of the history behind everyone who has ever born the name. Marvel has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Immortal Iron Fist: Orson Randall and the Green Mist of Death! That’s right, DEATH!
Or – “A Study In Contrasts…”

Daniel Rand. Introverted son of wealth.
Orson Randall. Self-destructive drug-addicted wanderer.
Both bearers of the burns of Shou-Lao, channelers of the power of the Iron Fist, both men of great drive and integrity, both heroes in wildly divergent ways. Both are men out of place, both are incredibly devoted to their friends, and neither would believe how similar they are. Now, after Orson’s death, Danny has to track down the loose ends of his predecessors life, only to find that the legacy of the Immortal Iron Fist and the Rand family fortune may be more closely tied than he ever expected.

About a skrajillion years ago, waaaay back in the early 90’s, my friend Bruce worked at the arcade in the mall, as steward and quarter-monkey. The awesome side-effect of it all was after-hours access to the Mortal Kombat 2 machine, and many was the time that Kabal fell in service to my personal empire, but at least I got to cut off Sub-Zero’s head a time or seven. Take that awesome feeling, multiply it by the moment in ‘Enter The Dragon’ where Bruce Lee fights the cobra, add it a healthy dose of “Black Belt Jones,” fold in the awesomeness that was The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, and you’ve got this issue.
The Readers Win! FATALITY!

All secrets of Orson Randall are revealed in the first Annual for the Immortal Iron Fist. Marvel has sent a sneak peek of the issue that promises to tell the greatest secrets.
Or – “Round One… FIGHT!”

I’m gonna say it now and get it out of the way:
MORRRTALLLL KOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTT!
There… I feel better now. Last time around, Iron Fist’s lawyer, Jeryn Hogarth, was kidnapped by the Steel Serpent (aka Davos, failed Iron Fist candidate.) Before Daniel could respond, his former teacher Lei Kung The Thunderer and the August Personage in Jade, the leader of the city of K’un Lun showed up to draft him into a legendary fighting competition… To the amazement of his friends, Iron Fist went with his old mentor, leaving Jeryn out in the cold. More secrets of the Book of Iron Fist are revealed, and a pretty awesome new character arrives, when you hit the link…

Another haul this week as Marvel released sneak peeks for issues arriving in stores July 25, 2007. 19 issues are coming your way, so instead of having one massive sneak peek fest, we’re once again breaking the Marvel Sneak Peek of the Week into two parts.
Part 1 features Amazing Spider-Man #542, Black Panther #29, Cable/Deadpool #43, Fantastic Five #2, Heroes for Hire #12, and several World War Hulk tie-in issues.
Or – “I Find Myself Really Missing The Giant Disco Collar…”

Various revamps of Iron Fist throughout the years keep altering the original costume and I don’t really understand why. Not only is it one of the most unique and interesting designs in comics, it’s not designed to be a superhero suit, it’s the customary garb of the fist of K’un L’un, a martial artists costume. In the 90’s-era run of Hero for Hire an issue featuring Deadpool had the merc with a mouth mocking the yellow slippers, and while it was funny, it irked me. Stop messing with the classics, Marvel! It’s bad enough you took away Luke Cage’s yellow silk shirt…
